    I also agree on nerves
When I did martial arts, I wasn't bad, but when it came to demonstration etc... I got nervous with everyone watching me. I would just freeze up. Mentally

to quote adrien broner, "there are levels to this *****". if a fighter is good enough to turn pro and have a dozen or more fights he knows how to fight and then some.
You're so right . People think Bam Bam can't box. Rios will be like Floyd Mayweather against the average Joe if he chooses and you won't be able to hit him with a bucket of water.

        Did you ever box,,,,,,

some guys have bad records because they dont get proper training camps, fight on short notice, and are fighting above their proper weight class,,,,

I think you and James toney are being pretty harsh on this guy

I respect anyone that gets up in the ring period its not as easy as some think
Great point! Just like speaking in public is not as easy as speaking with your friends.

The reason why I do not use the term "bum" is because years ago I had a friend who was a golden glove boxer. I have never boxed except in the street. We were discussing some of the current fights we had seen on TV and I had the sad misfortune of referring to one of the fighters as a "bum." Up until then I didn't think much about using the term.

He glared at me silently for a few seconds. I certainly felt that he was considering attacking me. Finally through clenched teeth, he said something to the effect that no fighter is a bum because it takes a lot of courage to get into that ring.

When we parted I breathed a sigh of relief and promised myself I would never call any fighter a bum again.

I have sparred many pros in my career and even now once in a while in the ring and the one's that people would call "bums" would beat the **** out of 90% of most people.

I sparred Edvan Barros about a year ago, and he ran circles around me.

barros is a very gifted athlete. he's fought good guys, too.

did you at least let him know that he was in there with a mexican?

I sparred Tony Thompson about four years ago. Didn't get beat down as such but couldn't land hardly any shots, he was actually very slick for a heavyweight. Kept me on the jab most of the time so I was just avoiding jabs for 10 minutes while failing to land or even throw many clean shots. But that was a good learning session where I didn't win a single round.

I like the posters honesty, takes ball$ to admit you got whooped by someone who's not even a top contender.

I've had 5 fights a couple of years ago, from gym-to-gym out of the 5 I won 4 (by KO-TKO) and lost one, granted the first four fights were probably easier than the last, and they were no pro's but neither was I.

Anyhow I came across a well seasoned amateur with a decent record, and all I can say is, he made me look absolutely silly for 9 minutes.

So to all of those keyboard KO artists, have some respect and if you can't respect someone get in that squared circle and try it with someone who knows something about the sport.
