JR does NOT qualify for GOAT
he at best would be at the bottom of the list.
SRR SRL Tommy Hearns , Duran would have whupped JR
The GOAT does not duck anyone, take Ali , Never Ducked a fighter, Joe Louis never ducked a fighter, George Foreman never ducked a fighter and should be in the top ten
The GOAT does not cherry pick his opponents
The GOAT does not gloat and brag about whuppin little men, wee little men , OLD men, men that can't pull the trigger and Worn out old champs
Jr has NOT fought a threat in over 8 years
Jr is fighting his first threat Sept 14th and can possibly lose this fight
What we have here folks is a boom in fans thru the internet young inexperienced fans that have no knowledge of past fighters like Cassius Clay who was the epitome of a fighter and ACE one who has the ability the punch and gameness plus take a tremendous shot
JR has snaked his way thru the past 8 years with retirements and ducking the elites of the day, like Pac, Cotto, Margo Martinez etc..........
Young kids have put him there, means NOTHING, WILL ALWAYS BE BLEMISHED for his ducking vacations and retirements etc........
SAD

Mayweather is more concerned with keeping his precious '0' than being an ATG. His best dance partner, Manny Pacquiao, is just as high as Mayweather, if not higher - but right around the same.
I'm not going into who's fault it was, but these guys should have fought a trilogy. Mayweather has a nice habit of fighting guys way past their prime and having his favourite friend say: "At the end of they day, Mayweather will go down as the best to ever do it".
It's all bs and pr. Mayweather is not top 30 at all, I could easily rally 30 fighters that are higher than Mayweather.
I'm actually a big mayweather fan, but I can't stand when fanboys are trying to elevate his status much higher than it rightfully should be.

Most people responding to this post wasn't even around during Robinson's and Louis' era let alone Ali's. Neither was I but I don't pretend to know what a good ATG list is when I'm vaguely familiar with everyone on the list. Probably the reason Mayweather, Tyson, and Jones Jr are so high on the list is because they developed a following with British fans because of their fights with prominent British boxers. Why wouldn't an undefeated British fighter that beat Jones Jr and Hopkins be high on a list voted on by British fans? I think Mayweather is a unique boxer. Like Whitaker and Jones Jr he was able to mix great defense with pretty good offense. Whether that makes him an ATG great is not for me to decide. I'll keep watching his fights until he retire, whether he's #1, 3, or 103 on some ATG list.Last edited by HarvardBlue; 08-30-2013, 12:41 AM.

I'd probably have it a bit different, but I'm assuming the voters looked at these fighters in their prime. Even Sugar Ray Robinson didn't look so good in his last few fights. Same for Tyson, Roy Jr, Louis. And Duran had some bad ones in the end as well. Certainly wouldn't put Floydie above Sugar Ray Leonard though.
