Does the generally acknowledged heavyweight champion with 14 defenses under his belt against the best available opposition "need" to fight a guy who has yet to beat even a competent journeyman? Heck no.
Does Wlad need Wilder?

after a few rounds sparring with Wlad...Wlad had been a pro for about 15 years and still has question marks about his chin. When was the last time he fought a legit heavy punching fighter. He fears the power of Wilder especially if he saw how quickly Deontay has been walking through solid chinned guys like Liahkovich.

that's all you need to know really.Last edited by Simurgh; 08-28-2013, 12:52 PM.Comment

What the?
The answer is not in the POLL.
Wlad's fighting the 2nd best heavyweight in the world who's not his brother now for the 3rd time in this reign. Why would he need a fight against a guy that's not even in the top ten and has only beaten complete bums?Comment

Wilder's toes are all working.
Haye was an absolute zero vs Vlad. He fought scared. He got hit with a hammer-jab in round 1 and his plans changed quickly.

And how do we know Wilder will do any better?
The Haye fight was BIG, the hype was crazy for several years leading up to the fight. It was the most anticipated heavyweight fight since Lewis-Vitali.
Lets not act like it was all Hayes fault the fight was a stinker either. Wlad didn't really push it and went for the knockout either... Haye did better than many act like he did, he wasn't destroyed or anything... he clipped Wlad with a few shots and went the distance.
I'd be surprised if Wilder did better than Haye.Comment
