I'm not sure what rankings you're going off on Chris Eubank because he hadn't had a legitimate win at 168 in about 3 years and was unranked at 168 when they fought.
Hey, when you only have 3, 1 counts!

The ring had him ranked at the time of the fight. I don't know why, but they did. Still, 11 top 10 is good I think. Especially seeing as Calzaghe was kind of inbetween eras when he came through. And he went on to beat an ATG in his backyard. Would like to see Floyd go the the philis and beat Pacquiao there!

Eubank wasn't ranked in the Top 10 when Calzaghe fought him. Believe me.

I just looked at the annual rankings to double check despite being 100% sure he wasn't in the top 10 as I remeber vividly that he wasn't but I see they put him at #9 after the fight (for what reason I have no idea) but that would be why you think he was ranked #9 when they fought. He wasn't. He was unranked and rigtfully so. He'd done nothing in years at that point.

The only acknowledgement Joe Calzaghe deserves is being the biggest paper champion in the history of boxing. Never in my life have I seen such a coward of a fighter.

Yeah I just looked up the annual rankings. Strange.

He'd been in the mix a year or two before, but the couple of no names he beat prior to Calzaghe probably wouldn't warrant a place in the top 10. nevertheless, he was there.

Could look at boxrec as well.

As someone who has no problem defending the proposition that Calzaghe was a great fighter in his own right, there is a pretty sizable gap favoring Mayweather in this conversation. He's just accomplished so much more and faced a greater depth of opposition.

Sorry, but there is absolutely no comparison. Calzaghe and Hatton are much closer.

Personally I respect Hatton more, at least he tried to face the best. actually trying is more valuable than not trying, IMHO.

that's impossible, why would a world title be fought with an unranked opponent. Surely that cant be allowed.

                    What does unranked mean?

There were 10 better super-middleweights than Chris Eubank in 1997? Let's see these "rankings".

better comparison would be Joe to Mayweather if Floyd had fought no one big except Cotto and DLH (to equate to Kessler and Bhop).

if you replaced all the other elites and top fighters on Floyds resume with nobodies and middlers, then theres a realistic comparison.
