Canelo's speed might be slightly underrated, and he's a smart fighter considering his age, I give him that much.

But let's be real, he is not knocking guys out or looking as great as Oscar de la Hoya wants us to believe.

He won the WBC title against Matthew Hatton, a welterweight, by decision.

His title defenses prior to the Trout fight have been Ryan Rhodes, Alfonso Gomez, Kermit Cintron, Shane Mosley and Josesito Lopez.

The kid's resume is incredibly padded, in spite of the name recognition he fought guys who either didn't belong at 154 , were old and way past their primes, or both things at once.

Canelo is being built to make casual fans believe he's something he's not.
I won't be surprised if in a few years somebody started to give Canelo credit for beating a sure HOF in Shane Mosley, previous world champions in Baldomir and Cintron.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if some people started to believe that Canelo did beat the "real" Cotto and Hatton

At least a prospect like Wylder has been fighting guys with no name recognition (and that probably needed the money) instead of old and washed up have beens

    Sorry for the rant

I have nothing against the kid, just the way he's being handled is ... immoral in my opinion

All the different weight divisions he's fought in, his fight night weight was always right on the limit or extremely close to it. But his opponents always hydrated 10+ lbs in comparison.

The last time his fight night weight was mentioned had been with Victor Ortiz. HBO stated Floyd came in around 148 and Ortiz was around 163/164. I remember too because Lampley was asking Stewart whether that weight would help Ortiz.

Floyd has also gone on record saying that he thinks its ****** for fighters to throw on so much water weight. He calls it a lack of discipline and says fighters today are not disciplined.

Very few fighters do this. The only other that comes to mind is Manny Pacquaio. He too doesn't throw on water weight and comes into the ring super close to his walk around weight. That's the healthiest and best thing for a fighter to do, but few do it.

Very few men naturally weigh less than 165lbs. But they still have a small frame so they are suited to the lower weight classes. De La Hoya went on a long diet so hit walk around weight wa 145 which was a big mistake. He didn't dehydrate himself before the weigh in he cut too much weight. This is one example where dehydrating yourself before a weigh in isn't such a big issue.

Again I respect your opinion but i'm asking can we get this answered 100% irrefutably by him just stepping on the scales once on fight night...I don't see the hardship in taking 2 minutes out of 24 hours to step on a scale. I don't like to compare things to averages from years ago. Hell Mosley could've made 140 5 years ago he can't today..the way the body burns fat changes as you age. Considering how hard Floyd works in the gym i'm not sure I believe he always walks around under 155lbs personally and i'm not accusing or giving specifics of anything i'm just curious like many others what his fight night weight is today.

Those fight night weights aren't really all that accurate homie. A lotta times fighters have their clothes on and only remove their shoes. And a lotta times, its on a bathroom scale and not the same scale they officially weigh-in on.

I understand that and I respect your input but I take the word of a scale over the hypothetical folks have been tossing around. Don't get me wrong i'm not making any assumptions whatsoever I just am a believer in seeing things with my own eyes. We can guess what jeans or shoes weigh and factor that into the equation after the fact. What we can't guess is what a guy weighs the night of the fight or regularly.

I'm just curious. Why do fight night weights matter so much to you?

It's not that they matter its that they are so heavily a topic of conversation specifically revolving around Floyd who is notoriously known for not weighing in on fight night. I think generally folks spend so much time talking about it that I would like the hypothetical discussion answered by actual facts. Not one much for the trivial shhh just like certain questions answered and for discussion to be based on things set on paper or seen.
