Comments Thread For: Mosley Breaks Down Power, Speed on Mayweather-Canelo

Shane Mosley is one of two fighters in the sport that have shared the ring with both Floyd Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and can actually give an insider’s account of what each fighter brings to the table. Mayweather and Alvarez will be squaring off on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV in what promises to be one of the biggest fights in the sports history.

Mayweather decided to fight above the Welterweight limit for the third time in his career in order to make the fight with Alvarez happen. The perception is Alvarez will be the bigger fighter and puncher but according to Mosley, he doesn’t think there is a difference in the hitting power. [Click Here To Read More]

I've always thought the same thing Mosley is saying about the speed and pop being more of a factor contributing to knock out shots was true. Although watching both Canelo and Mayweather fight its hard to imagine they have the same or similar power Mayweather looks like he has more snap and Canelo looks more like he pushes his punches

I think Mosley is spot on. I never thought Caneo was a devastating puncher. And I always felt his handspeed was underrated and his accuracy is even more underrated. Fighters make the mistake of trying to bully Floyd into the ropes. Floyd is tougher to hit on the ropes because he becomes totally defensive and isn't looking to counter as much. When Floyd has been buzzed, its been in the middle of the ring. I think the possibility for a flash KD or for Floyd to be hurt in the middle of the ring in very possible in this fight.

Mosley was on Roids when he fought Canelo, he wasn't on Roids when he fought Floyd. The body punch that Canelo landed on Mosley almost broke him in half I didn't see Floyd do that. Canelo Ko'd Baldimor with 1 shot I didn't see Floyd do that to Baldimor. Why don't we ask Baldimor who hits harder since we all know Steroids helps you take a better punch Shane

This is a terrible argument all around. Different weight classes at different points in their careers......and how exactly do steroids help you take a better punch?

how do you compare two versions of Mosley but consider the version of baldomir that fought Floyd to be the same version as the one that fought canelo? This is a dumb post.

^^^^^^this dude!! Floyd is most vulnerable on the center of the ring than on the ropes, I've seen his fights so many times and that's what I'v looked so far, when he's on the ropes he's almost untouchable, he can be hit with a jab but it's gets almost impossible to hit him.

Like I and many of us have said, Canelo's power is overrated.

this just proves how special of a fighter that mayweather is. he's a natural 140 pounder. he just does'nt fight there because of age.
