To be fair, Golovkin is a noted power puncher who landed a much more visibly (and audibly) devastating liver shot on Macklin than Hopkins did on De La Hoya. If the visual and audio from that shot (Golovkin's) didn't convince you of it's power, the way Macklin went down immediately like he'd been stabbed should've. Oscar's reaction to Bernard's liver punch was completely different in every aspect.

Just saying, those liver shots are no joke.

Oh, absolutely. I wasn't really disagreeing so much as I was playing the role of devil's advocate, which I tend to do during debate.

I do seem to remember a few of the people that were watching the fight at the time thought it was kind of fake. I just think Oscar is too vain to take a dive, he could have but I think he has too much pride.

I agree what everyone is saying about Oscar would be too prideful to take a dive but as to what a few others have said already Bernard was cranking it up and was about to start tee'ing off on Oscar. And with Oscar's tendency to fade late in fights it would've been far more embarrassing to be completely dominated the last 4 rounds. So he took the easier way out to save face a little bit. Have people say, "hey he was holding his own but that body shot got him."

One thing I always wondered was why Hopkins corner or someone in his camp were yelling "BODY SHOT!" very loudly over and over during that round. Now that was fishy too me.

Too much ego on Oscar to ever do that. He wanted those belts. Hopkins was just too much for him.
