floyd vs canelo will do huge numbers,,,, somewhere in neighborhood of 1.5-1.9 million

I dont believe it will crack 2 mil buys and wont come near the record of oscar-floyd

    reasons why
    1. HBO spent a crap load of money on promotion for oscar/floyd,, developed 24/7 for that fight, That fight was hyped as the one to save boxing, etc

    2. Showtime has spent alot of money on GBP so probably cutting back on ads, or at least wont match the expenditures made by HBO for oscar/floyd

    3. casual fans liked oscar, and were interested in floyd who was an unknown to casual fans, but the undefeated record, and p4p #1 ranking made floyd very interesting to the casual fans...

    4. Canelo has mexican star power, not global star power like oscar...

    5. people have come to know floyd, and casuals dont like him,,, mainstream media thinks he is a joke for never getting the manny fight done, and taking all his "retirements"

    6. canelo doesnt have the drawing power of oscar,,

canelo-floyd will still be a huge ppv but wont break the oscar/floyd record, or even 2 million buys,, 1.85 million buys seems about right,, which is still astronomical for a boxing ppv,, serg vs chavez jr only did less than 600k

I don't know about anyone else but I've been seeing a lot of TV commercials and also saw a commercial on Friday right before watching Elysium. If you call some of your TV providers you'll also hear the PPV advertising before speaking to a rep. They've been doing SOME promoting, but I still think it could be more.

Sounds about right. I predict 1.5 - 1.6mil tops though. I don't think canelo draws as much from U. S fans as a Cotto did when he fought floyd. The undercards is a bonus for us diehards but it won't sway the casuals to buy it as they barely know who Garcia or mathysse are.

Really? It's all over the internet and All Access starts this weekend and they've been doing crazy world tours.

Nice. Where are you in Cali? I'm actually going to the closed circuit in Vegas but I always watch fights at my mexican buddy's place in NOHO

As I've stated, I have yet to see any TV commercials, billboards, posters, etc, the way I saw for Floyds fights with oscar and Cotto. But maybe that's just here in Nyc and they're focusing advertisement more in the southwest where there's a greater mexican population. Either that or maybe showtime just doesn't have the promotional power that HBO does. Granted it should be a great night of boxing that I'm looking very forward to. I just wish it had the buzz of Floyd/Oscar. It makes the anticipation that much more exciting! I feel there was even more pre fight buzz for the floyd / Hatton bout. Especially with the drama of 24/7.

The fight is still almost a month away. Patience my friend.

Funny, just as I opened this thread a promo for Mayweather-Canelo appeared on USA during a commercial break.
