Yeah I gotta agree with Prince Mongo... Whatever you think of Clev, and I was never convinced by him, you have to respect a few facts: 1) He wanted and even requested Kovalev 2) He can admit that his training went as well as he'd hoped and the better man won 3) He doesn't want a career fighting Warren cherry picks in front of partisan crowds in Wales and will walk away if he doesn't feel up to making another charge at the Elite...

this is exactly the reason I was glad he wasn't out on his feet or unconscious when they stopped it...

There are defeats and defeats.
Cleverly, a big guy for his weight class, who thought he had an iron chin (and I actually think his chin is not all that bad, considering) was made feel that he didn't belong in the same ring with Kovalev. He didn't just get caught, like Alekseev in the Lebedev fight. This was a blow-out a-la Golovkin-Macklin. Tough to come back from this as your first loss. He needs to have a bit less confidence in his chin, learn to box like Alvarado boxed in the Rios rematch and learn to survive when hurt. And stop having meaningless fights if he is serious about coming back.
Who knows, maybe 3 years down the line he can then have a rematch with Kovalev and be competitive.

I would rather have a 3rd class honours from a top 10 uni in a proper subject, than a first from a thrid rate uni, doing some half assed subject. As they say in hip hop, real recgonise real!

For a bright guy with good qualifications hes never boxed in a manner that is conducive to a long career. Its strange that some of the most defensive and elusive fighters are absolute morons (no names). But some of the more intelligent fighters (Cleverly / Froch) seem to have little regard to the preservation of their brains.....
I'm sure that Nathan could adapt his style; become more defensive and learn to use his legs and tie up when in trouble.
But I'd be happy to see him use whats left of his brain power to invest his earnings well and earn a good return.
