They pay lawyers exactly for this. If it was a private contractual agreement I'm sure that would take precedence over everything else, otherwise what's the point of even wasting the time to draw up penalties if a loophole that's obvious to even message board posters exists?
What happens if Canelo comes in at 154, anyway?

NO manager worth his law license would agree to such an outrageous penalty. Probably like 200k per pound sounds more reasonable. So give 4 pounds at 800 thousand and come in at 156 - fit and comfortable. That would be the best play for Canelo and you know that the fight is all systems go regardless of Canelo's pre-fight conditions because 156, 157 or 158 ~ the money is already on the books.
he would lose his titles on the scales

I'm not worrying about anything... I dont give a **** about Canelo, I dont know him and he doesnt know me.And obviously that's why the fights at 152. Smart on Floyd. The point is, he just made weight a few months ago, and looked good. I don't see how things have changed so much in a few months, especially with the biggest fight of his life ahead.
I'm sure he's employed some top of the line trainers to take of that on an hour by hour, day by day basis. He's got guys that get paid to deal with things like this. Don't worry guys, he'll be fine.
My statement stands, I find it hard to believe he will be at 100% at 152lbs.Comment

When I said look at Cotto, I was speaking financially. Cotto's stock, despite his performance against Floyd, stayed the same. Some would argue it still declined because Cotto fought Austin Trout next for $1 million dollars.Comment

And my statement still stands, "that's why the fight's at 152", so what's your point? He's gonna make weight, maybe he works extra hard on conditioning, and those 2 lbs. are a Godsend come fight night.
He's not gonna be 100%, but he's in a position that 99.9% of WWs, JMWs, and JWWs want to be in. Having their name next to Floyd's in a PPV event that might break records.
And I never said you gave a **** about Canelo. Why are you so heated?Comment

So, you're basically proving my point? His stock dropped after losing to Floyd, right?
My point was, getting dominated by Floyd isn't gonna help your stock. Cotto didn't get embarrassed by Floyd. He lost some competitive rounds, and won a few himself.
If Canelo gets embarrassed by Floyd, not a good look. Especially for a young, hungry lion like himself.Last edited by BUNGALOWS; 08-15-2013, 03:51 PM.Comment

I honestly don't know.
Either Floyd pulls out, or Canelo has to hand over a significant part of his purse. Probably the latter.Last edited by Bring It On; 08-15-2013, 04:06 PM.Comment

I brought that up because you originally compared Cotto's performance to Jose Luis Castillo.Comment
