Nonito was walking through guys with no power and limited skills. Faced against a guy that has been on top of his game for years Nonito was destroyed. Rigo made Nonito second guess if it was safe to press the action in their fight. He made the fight loom very easy because I stead of slugging like most so called boxing fans enjoy, he used his boxing IQ and not only beat Nonito but gave the HBO crew a lesson in boxing. No one can tell me that out boxing a guy, using everything a trainer teaches you from day one isn't exciting to watch. If that is not what you like to see then turn the station. Rigo is being punished for embarrassing Bob Arum's hyped up new cash cow Nonito when they all thought it was going to be an easy night. Hell even in a rematch Rigo will win and probably by KO since Nonito will be pressured to make a statement in order to get back on Bob's good side leaving himself exposed & ending up lime Manny against Marquez. I say release the man & go try to patch up Nonito's image because right now the guy looks ordinary. .......

Its just what it is, Rigo just isnt crowd pleasing..
It has nothing to do with being crowd pleasing. Ward, Dawson, Alexander and Hopkins all got heavy push from HBO.

        It's because:

        -He's Cuban
-He's at 122 pounds where nobody is headlining fights unless they are from Mexico or the Philippines.
-He has a lucrative contract with Top Rank which requires big purses and there are no opponents to justify the numbers they have to pay him

And Donaire didn't press ****. He was scared after getting blasted in the first part of the fight and became tentative. You sound bitter.

This post is so accurate it hurts.

I have no doubt that Rigo's detractors would rather watch a couple of talentless cavemen exchange blows till one collapses in a bloody mess on the canvass.

I wouldn't call this truncated piece of crap an "interview"...

I think the BoxingScene report, to me seems very rabble-rousing, to be polite, and the best place to find "rabble" is with the BoxingScene "fans". It seems clear that the report is only the latter part of a much longer interview. Does a reporter (so-called) begin his questioning by asking (or stating) "......and how much of an injustice to you find this to be..."

How much more inflammatory a question could this be, and is obviously designed to either get Hyde to start blasting at Top Rank, or to feed the flame he'd already started with previous questions. It's just far too transparent and an insult to the intelligence of the few discerning BoxingScene readers, one of which, I regard myself.

This is really all you need to post. Donaire was a huge exception because he has power not usually seen at such low weights, most guys in that weight range don't get play on TV. Especially not 30 year old Cubans.

The lack of compelling opponents certainly doesn't help either.
