I still consider Hopkins the best win on Joe's resume. A crafty ATG still in very good shape and form (won titles half a decade later) Calzaghe went away from homeand stepped up in weight to take on B-Hop and won.

Ward's best win is a slightly faded Kessler (he still beat prime Froch in his next fight so i rank him higher than Froch) who ward beat by headbutting to death in his hometown

I think there is little doubt that 2008 Hopkins would put a pavlik like schooling on Kessler that Ward fought

    Hopkins the better win

    Second Best Wins:

Ward = Froch Calzaghe = Kessler

A decent win by Ward over a very tough but limited campaigner.

Calzaghes second best win was against a prime Kessler who calzaghe adjusted to and beat up down the stretch.

A shopworn Kessler beat Froch, Prime version possibly stops him

    Kessler the better win.

    Third Best Wins:

Ward = Abraham Calzaghe = Eubank

Wards third best win is a hype job midget with no skill who got beat to **** by every super middleweight he faced

Calzaghe third best win was the cagey veteran Chris Eubank, a multi weight titlist who was highly skilled

    Eubank the better win

    Fourth Best Wins

Ward = Dawson Calzaghe = Lacy

Wards fourth best win was a badly weight drained mental midget, Bad Chad Dawson.

Calzaghe fourth best win was undefeated champion and former olympic medalist Jeff Lacy. Sadly a shoulder injury would mean Lacy was never the same after this fight

I think Prime Lacy would find Dawsons chin at some stage and put him out

    Lacy the better win

After this they both have Bika, and thats where Wards resume ends

Calzaghe has solid world level wins over: Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell amongst others.

Calzaghe has by far the better resume at this stage, to deny it is lunacy.
ATG post, I think you should be knighted.

Anyone who doesn't agree with you deserves to be ass ****d by zombies

Kessler after the fight against Calzaghe, "Joe ruined my boxing".

I'm not saying Kessler was shot but a big part of him died that night in Wales. Getting embarrassed in front of 50,000 people and losing your undefeated record and unbreakable confidence is hard to recover from.

But he then went on and got his best win after this. I'm not saying it didn't affect him, but he was just as good when he fought Ward as when he fought Calzaghe. A better argument is that Calzaghe didn't have to butt him to win. Come on Dirk.

It's close. The only win worth mentioning for Calzaghe is Hopkins. I thought he won the fight but not by much. There was a lot resentment towards Hopkins back then so that might have played into the judges hands. Ward's best win is Dawson so that's a wash. Weight issues set aside I don't anyone seriously doubt Ward would not have won that fight at any weight. He probably wouldn't have TKO'd him but Ward was/is clearly the better fighter.

His best win? A life and death struggle with Froch where a great number of people thought he lost? Come on now. The mental and physical scars from the beating Joe put on him in those later rounds will haunt his soul for the rest of his life.

It's ****** to compare careers when 1 is finished & another is only half way through.
thats how bad Calzaghe career was, he is being compared to Ward, a boxer that is not even half way into his career lol

Ward is 29 years old and is 26-0 When Joe C was 26-0 was his resume better than Ward's??

Hopkins is Calzaghe's best win and that win came at the end of his career. Ward will most likely be around for several more years. Compare them when Ward is at the end of his career instead.

People are acting like Ward winning the Super Six makes his resume ATG

The contestants in the S6 were a shot Taylor, Abraham, Dirrell, Ward, Kessler, Froch

Half dropped out, and old Johnson and Allen Green were also included lol.

Not sure people are calling him an ATG...but the praise is likely more that he beat King Arthur, Kessler (both heavily favored to win the tourney) and Froch...not the replacements.

Abraham lost 21 out of 23 rounds against Dirrell and froch. The win means very little when Ward beat him
