i forgot to mention and meldrick taylor (pre-chavez I) AND pernell whitaker would have made pacquiao look like an amateur.

The mistake Taylor made was he didn't use his speed and footwork the night he fought Julio Chavez. Being a philly kid, Taylor traded with a brawler and that's a no no.Comment

Taylor fought the way he always does. He didn't have any other style - he was there to be hit and anyone there to be hit was getting KO'ed by a prime Chavez.Comment

No, he could've used his speed and footwork. He made a mistake yet he beat Julio too bad he was robbed. Everyone who just started watching boxing would be impressed with Julio's resume but a quick glipse at boxrec will change all that. Even in his prime, Julio was fighting guys with 0-0-0 record. That's pathetic for someone who's considered an atg like Julio Chavez.Comment

I actually remember watching Chavez on ABC's wide world of sports and I watched his bouts against Whitaker & Taylor live. In fact, I have copies today.
And Taylor DID use his speed and footwork. What don't you get? You need to watch the fight - that's the way Taylor ALWAYS fights. How do you think he won all those rounds against Chavez, outslugging him? He did what he always did, zip in and out with combinations. Just stop it, man.Last edited by IMDAZED; 07-01-2008, 04:44 PM.Comment

Only people who just started watching boxing need boxrec. Can't believe you're actually telling people to go look on there. Stats tell you half the story - how do you get the rest when youve never seen the fights, know the fighters or understand where they stood at the time?

And he lost both fights. Anyone who disagrees don't know **** about boxing. He could've fought like Floyd but he chose not to. How do you think he got caught in the last round if he had used he's speed and footwork?Comment

Did I tell a lie about him fighting guys with 0-0-0 records in his prime? Of course not. Tell me it aint pathetic.

Ok..so he lost both fights. So then how come you keep saying Taylor would've WON had he used his speed and footwork? LOL.
And finally dog, tell the truth - you've seen maybe one Meldrick Taylor fight your whole career. Because if you saw MORE, you wouldn't even dare make that comment.
Just because a fighter has fast hands and legs doesn't means he fights or should fight like the next guy who has fast hands and legs! LMAO. Yeah, who doesn't know boxing?
Taylor was a Philly fighter - it was always his instinct to fight fire with fire. He ALWAYS fought like that. It backfired against Chavez but stop acting like he chose not to use his speed and footwork. He used BOTH like he always did. And like he always did, he also stood and FOUGHT at times.
Dude, I don't even wanna argue - I'd rather you go do your homework than for you to try and defend what you're saying just so you don't look wrong. You are - and if anyone else on here watched Taylor, they'd tell you that!Last edited by IMDAZED; 07-01-2008, 04:59 PM.Comment

I could post a video of a boxer that was 14-1 when he fought Chavez but boxrec has him at 0-0-0 so stfu, Chavez would have step rolled over MayweatherComment
