I find it absolutely incredible how people are pretending that Pacman can actually block punches with anything other than his face.

Chavez would absolutely annihilate Pacman. Pacman beats people because he has bigger balls than them. He doesn't have bigger balls than JCC.

He's faced Marquez, and Marquez made him pay with heavy leads and counters everytime he could, and Manny didn't do anything but freeze up and try to counter himself.

lol And the fact you' guys are usin Diaz as a gauge to see what Paq can do is just crazy. David doesn't have half the punch or skill Julio had. I mean it's not even a comparison that one could make unless one was either senial or ate paint chips as a kid.

Chavez walks through him and wins by an execution.
Juan Marquez is a skilled counterpuncher Julio isn't.

He goes in and then goes out unlike a typical brawler who stays in front of his opponent and besides their about the same size. Julio may be a little bigger but he's not too big for Pacquiao.
I don't think some of the older boxing fans think boxers of today can't beat boxers of yesteryear. At 28, I'm not old. But it disheartens me when I see fans today not only lacking knowledge about a fighter, but not even CARING that they lack knowledge.

I'll ignore you if you're what I call "fan of a fighter, not the sport." But if you actually love the sport, you should take the time to learn it. Even fighters do that - look at a James Toney or Floyd - true students of the game.

You have plenty to say about Pacman but could only describe Chavez as a "tough and a strong guy." A tough and a strong guy doesn't beat Edwin Rosario, Joey Gamache (yeah, he was a three-time champ and well-past his prime when he met Gatti), Jose Louis Ramirez, Meldrick Taylor, Roger Mayweather, Mario Martinez, etc. These guys range from Hall of Famers in their prime to the very best contenders.

Shame on you for saying Chavez wasn't a counterpuncher. Hell yeah, he was. He wasn't overly quick but was well-schooled, threw an excellent jab, excellent combinations, was a solid in-fighter and worked the body as good as anyone in history. He gets flak for losing to Whitaker (he sure did) but Chavez was already slipping then, plus he moved UP to welter for that fight.

Pac is the world's best right now. Please note Chavez was ranked pound for pound #1 by ALL magazines for YEARS. That's how great he was! And that was in a golden era of fighters. Pac is simply not at that level yet, although clearing out the lightweight division will make believers of us all.

DD has bigger balls than Julio. Diaz was outclassed, overpowered and he kissed the canvass fighting while Julio.... Nevermind.

Julio is the type of guy who dismantles his opponents by roughing them up, pushes them against the rope and digs into the body. Look I respect you but boy he was no counterpuncher!

I think it's insane that some of Julio's fans think it's crazy and ****** when someone says Pacquiao can beat Julio. This is boxing, anything can happen! With Pacquiao's speed, imho, he's capable of beating Julio. I think both fighters are capable of beating the other and this is what separates me from some of the members here who think it's impossible for Pacquiao to beat an atg like Julio and claim to be boxing fans.

Pacquiao actually has pretty good defense these days, he's a much better boxer than he used to be. Sure he leads with his face when punching but it usually ends up doing more damage to his opponent than him.

Pacquiao's prime is probably right about now, he's much better than how he used to fight..even in his Barrera fight.

Unfortunately you mistake me for these people I called "fan of a fighter, not the sport."

I'm not a Chavez fan. Never was, never will be. Hated him after the Taylor fight. But when you dwindle your argument to "this is boxing, anything can happen," you're grasping at straws. Yeah, he's capable. But based on what the facts tell us, it's highly unlike that Pacquiao beats him. Of course, how can we even begin this debate when you are sitting here trying to tell me that Julio Cesar Chavez wasn't a counterpuncher.

You're right except...he was still a very good counterpuncher. That's what you don't get. He wasn't one-dimensional like Marquez. He could counterpunch, he could move a lil', had a steel chin and hit ****ing hard. A lot harder than a lot of guys Pac's been facing recently (for those who think standing toe to toe would be to Pac's advantage). You don't rule the Ring's pound for pound rankings for years by being one-dimensional. Chavez could do it all. And he fought a plethora of styles during his championship reign.

But I hear you, kid. I think you know what I'm getting at. And if someone else goes out and gets some footage of the two fighters, this debate was worth something.
