A lot of fighters did that back then to stay active. How many fighters do you know massacred guys like Haugen, Rosario, Camacho, and on, and on. How about you look at those guys on the resume? I mean, I don't hear anyone touting JCC because he beat someone 0-0. It's because of the people he beat you don't want to mention.

Taylor was a Philly fighter - it was always his instinct to fight fire with fire. He ALWAYS fought like that. It backfired against Chavez but stop acting like he chose not to use his speed and footwork. He used BOTH like he always did. And like he always did, he also stood and FOUGHT at times.
