It is difficult to accurately compare the performances of Trout and Mayweather against Cotto. Mayweather was fighting a naturally heavier, stronger guy in Cotto. Also Cotto was in much better shape for the Mayweather fight than he was for Trout.

I say it was about the same. The 2 fights were fought completely different. With Trout there was a lot more trading with Trout obviously getting the better shots in, but he was hit a lot. The fight was close but Trout was the clear winner. With Mayweather it was more defensive but Cotto was more aggressive than we've seen anyone else against Mayweather. Mayweather was hit more than we're use to seeing so it looked more competitive than it was.

The margin of victory on the official scorecards was just about the same. I thought Mayweather did just a small amount better than Trout did but they both clearly beat Cotto.

I had Trout winning more rounds but a lot of the rounds in Mayweather-Cotto were very close rounds. Not so much with Trout.

IMHO Cotto didnt really consider Trout dangerous or as dangerous and did not train properly nor had the right game plan.

Plus all the other distractors with the high altitude training and drama with his mother makimg him cut his training cycle short.
In all Floyd did better than Trout facing a much better prepared Cotto.

I think Floyd did slightly better. Cotto landed more punches on Trout than he did on Floyd, despite Trout's significant height and reach advantage, his southpaw stance and the fact that he only fought from a distance.

I personally thought Trout gave Cotto a boxing lesson. Mayweather looked flustered at times.

Trout took more powershots. Then he was unable to HURT Cotto despite being the bigger man unlike Floyd, who was smaller than Cotto
