Jones did win the 1st round and was winning the 2nd,,,,, No he wasnt looking "spectacular" but he was winning the fight,,,, I thought he looked alot better in those 2 rounds than he did in the 1st tarver fight,,,
There are no lucky punches in boxing.
Roy Jones was washed up when he fought Glen Johnson. He didn't even fight back.
obviously you've never even watched the damn fight, if johnson was anyone else with a lesser chin he'd have been sparked by roy or made to quickly gain some respect for roy or get sparked
johnson took roy's soul
in tarver iii it's where he didn't fight back, threw no punches, just showboated, and even then a mentally defeated roy seemed like if he just let his punches go he could beat tarver

The first Tarver fight Jones was Jones until round 7. His skills eroded from then on. The toll he took on his body took something from him. The second fight saw a Jones who didn't move his head or feint and looked like a guy who didn't know how to fight a southpaw. More like a guy trying to conserve energy. He physically declined no matter if he won round 1.

Roy did fight at all in that fight,,, He hardly trained,, his camp afterwards was like he may have trained like 4 or 5 days for this fight,,, roy wasnt there mentally,,, i remember watching this fight thinking, Ok roy is gonna turn it on, roy just feeling him out,, Ok roy gonna turn it on after the 6th round, ok roy needs to turn it on now, damn roy got beatdown and ko'd.. Thats when i knew roy would never win another top level fight again

Are you serious????? dont forget the huge ppv win over old fat tito.... Hanshaw was a decent win at the time for a comeback fight,,, but roy was nowhere near his peak like he was 94-2002.

You sound ****** telling someone that they never watched a fight. Stop guessing.
Jones was done ok. I don't care what you have to say about this topic dun. Jones was done after the first Tarver fight. That's how it happens, that quick.
Jones was 35 years old moving from 175 to maybe 192 lbs-pure muscle, and then back down to 175lbs. He had to lose that and fight a very tough Tarver. We all talked about how Jones looked lethargic from round 7 on.
The first fight showed you what Roy lost. He could not keep up the heat that he usually does for 12 rounds. Against Johnson, Roy probably won 1 round.

I wonder what caused such a sharp physical decline
