There's some Japanese guy that seems to be repping him on twitter:

    Alex Iwamatsu ‏@ONEOFJAPAN 16h
@DrUppercut If there is an offer of US, Arakawa will not retire. He went to Texas as a last fight. There is no chance in the world in Japan.

I think they should have stopped it around the 8th. His punches were just thrown out of pure heart no real chance of landing something significant. Yes he was pressing the action but he was taking a ridiculous beating. The ref could have stepped in similar to how the ref stopped Marquez Katsidis.

He wasn't flagging like Katsidis at any point though, similar crazy pace all night. His best rounds were 11 and 12 in fact

I generally agree, but there comes a point in time where when a fight is so brutal that you stop being caught up in the excitement for a moment, and start to worry about the fighter taking the beating's wellbeing. I don't think that makes you any less of a fan. Hell, I saw countless sports journalists, fans, and analysts doing just that in regards to Arakawa around the 8th or 9th round last night.

That's not even mentioning previous fights of guys like Gatti, Morales, and Vazquez, whom I've seen the same writers, fans, and analysts worry about from time to time.

I've seen fighters end up in critical condition from lesser beatings than the one he took last night. That said, I've not heard anything negative regarding his health post-fight, so I think it's safe to assume he's doing just fine.

He's the boxing version of Michael Myers.

What do you mean stop the fight? Arakawa was giving figueroa that work in a couple of those rounds.

I thought the scores were disgraceful, although I thought the right man won.

With that said, he had Omar hurt a few times and was very busy in a lot of those rounds.

Because this is boxing, you get paid for this, don't have the balls to go to hell and back, don't do boxing.

Jesus, boxing has a lot of p*ssy fans.

I actually saw him after the fight and shook his hand. He was perfectly fine, minus his busted up face.

He was taking some hard shots but he wasnt getting dominated. He was still throwing and landing some of his own. It was a back and fourth battle with arakawa receiving the bigger blow but he wasnt completely dominated to where it needs to be stop.

He's going to feel that body barrage for another week. I wonder how he feels today. I think this is the time it is really kicking in and he is probably wondering why he accepted so much punishment himself.
