Nihito Arakawa should be happy to be alive.

Why didn't his corner or the ref stop the fight? Yes he never stopped throwing punches but he was losing big time and ate power punch after power punch....that was a brutal beating.

Yes he's a warrior and deserves credit but at some point ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. To go 12 rounds taking a serious beating like that is the type of punishment that could get you killed.

He was the one pressing the action and landing the punches more often than not. You can't take a guy out who's clearly pressing the fight.

That doesn't make any sense...Even a blind person could see who was getting punishished. At least his corner should've stopped the fight.

He was pressing the action but his punches were not doing any damage, super slow, and he was getting hit with cleanpunches over and over, all he was doing was smothering. If he had power and more speed he would have knocked Omar out, Omar is also lucky that the guy didn't have power or else he would have been out cold and damaged bad.

The corner should have threw that towel in to be honest. The guy had no power to hurt Omar and they just let him keep going out there to smother him while getting hit repeatedly with hard shots.

Arakawa never gave the referee a chance to stop the fight. You can't just jump in and stop a fight without good reason, and everytime it seemed like Arakawa was getting ready to go he came back even ****ing stronger.

His corner should've been the ones to stop it, but he obviously didn't want them to. He was ****ing smiling in there.

Arakawa won a lot of fans with is performance last night. You don't have to always win to be remembered as a great fighter.

            it's boxing
if you're afraid to get hit, be a fucking ballerina instead
Arakawa wasn't taking a beating just to show he was tough
he was still trying to win, so you can't pull the plug on the fight
as much as he was throwing/landing back, physically he was still in it

Nihito Arakawa deserves praise for not quitting. I respect that. Now, he did take a lot of punishment that should have been avoided. At one point you have to look out for the safety of your fighter and especially for one who is 31 years old. Great showing by both fighters.

He was also coming on really strong in the championship rounds, when Figueroa wasn't throwing nearly as much either due to exhaustion, his damaged hands (which he complained to his trainer about in the corner twice), or a combination of both.

Makes you wonder what would've happened had it been a 15 round fight, or worse : An old school "fight 'til you drop" type of affair.

Arakawa is a ****ing savage and has nothing to be ashamed of.

Everything turned out just fine so I am not worried about that. Boxing is dangerous and watching someone get seriously hurt is never fun but you can't be a fan of the sport if you are worried about the worst outcomes all the time.
