Sorry but Floyd is ranked higher than Manny as the best at 130 and to say Manny has a proven track record at fighting the best is false. Especially at WW. He fought a bunch of guys Floyd fought and some coming off loses when they were not at their best. To top it off. You say JMM fights were epic but Floyd made easy work of JMM after being semi retired. Manny is good but should not be mentioned with any of the top tier guys. He was matched made to look to be someone that was a threat to Mayweather.

I think Mayweather is a special boxer no matter what era. I'm sure there are underlying reasons why Duran is saying this about him. Everyone gets bogged down on who Mayweather didn't fight or what boxer from the past would have beat him. The fact is he's beaten everyone he faced so far. The fact that even if he has a bad night (Cotto) he still find a way to win. Tyson was supposed to beat Douglas. Roy Jones, Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis got KO'd by boxers they were supposed to beat easily. In this or any era, good boxers get beat by lesser competition routinely. Mayweather was not. That has to count for something. I think Duran is wrong on this one.

Finally a sage comment. I disagree that Duran is wrong, but I see your point. Good post.

Duran only beat Sugar Ray Leonard because Leonard stood right in front of him. You failed to discredit that guys point. The fact is Duran couldn't handle anyone who would use defense or circle around the ring. Once Leonard used movement in the second fight Duran couldn't do ****.

Floyd would be too much for Duran. Unless Floyd fought Duran the way he did Cotto I don't see anyway Duran could win.

the point is that people do not have the same perception of what a fight should be...specially of differenr eras....

on the days of old "to run" was not really an acceptable game plan for a fight...

one has to slug it out in a fisticuffs sort of war...tit for tat...where to run is akin to surrender or resorted only to survive....

Look Edgarglesballs, Duran's comment is not even close to a certainty. The funny thing is if Duran said that about your hero, you'd be up in arms calling Duran a quitter. Begone.
