Hearns was hit on the jaw and hurt, but a body shot put him down in the 13th. And the stoppage was a left hook to the head and body that ended the fight. Remember Sugar became the hunter in their fight which also sapped Hearns strength too.

Yes accurate description of what happened,, i dont remember the left hook to the body that sent him down in the 13th, i thought it was a volley of punches.. but havent watched it in awhile so i will take your word for it......

And yes after the 4th round SRL said to hell with boxing and tried to make it a brawl when he realized he could hurt hearns,,, Hearns was weaken by the grueling pace and changes in momentum,, SRL wore him out and beat him down.....

I just dont get how people can possibly say hearns didnt gas from the pace and get brokedown late.... SRL dropped bombs on him earlier and hearns recovered,, there was no recovery late because hearns had NOTHING left to give,,, HE WAS DONE

The problem I have is Adam making excuses for Hearns by saying if Hearns wasn't gassed out he would've won. NO. So if Ray Leonard didn't throw the combos that hurt him, Hearns would've just tipped over from exhaustion anyways? NO.

If Hearns didn't get caught and wasn't getting battered around the ring the last 2 rounds he would've won.

I never said made excuses for hearns,,, I clearly stated that he outboxed SRL for the majority of the fight,, and couldnt handle the pressure late, and got ko'd because he had nothing left...

Ray did go for the ko earlier,, he was looking for it after the 4th round, he didnt succeed till tommy gassed

wasnt trying to make an excuse,,, thats what happened,,, you act like SRL did him like barkely and hagler, when thats not the case......

SRL won a battle of attrition,, got hearns down....

he hit hearns with the same shots in 6,7,8 yet hearns didnt go down,,, why did he go down in the 13, 14 it was because he couldnt hang anymore,, he was done,,,,

Fresher hearns=better recovery
gassed hearns = no recovery fight is over...

never made an excuse for hearns,,, just saying the reason the fight ended...

Leonard was landing good shots through out the fight. You can only take so much as a fighter. Hearns got hit multiple times, hurt, and finished. You said yourself his weakness is his chin. Leonard tapped it and Hearns couldn't handle it.

Robinson losing to Maxim is due to gassing/tired as hell. Hearns lost to Leonard because he got hit too much.
