Chaves was better than I expected, it turns out he was to some extent fighting to his opponents level a bit in his previous fights against sub standard opposition. However he is nothing special and neither is Thurman. Thurman is definitely in the mix and may well become an alphabet champ but he stills seems a bit lacking to really be at the very highest level. Some quality body shots though.

It was a great night of boxing but you must have a short memory because I can think of quite a few good fights that were under TR.

Either way, I don't care who is promoting it ...... just hoping that we get to see good fights.

Ha! My thoughts exactly! I know it's just a matter of time before Brover vs. Thurman is made and I can't wait! Broner is going to need more than pot shots to beat Thurman.

BRIAN CASTAÑO will be the next big thing out of argentina...the kids ****in GOOD.
No disrespect to your opinion, but from what I saw of Chaves last night he would bomb out a lot of the top 10 WWs.

The likes of Marquez, Brook, Bradley, Alexander, Broner, Malignaggi and even Maidana would struggle against Chaves.

          Thurman is legit.

come on Thurman was supposed to rip thru him in 2 rds like he said. it was a set up fight by showtime and he almost lost. you proved my point by saying he was a soccer player and he started late in boxing.

you are proving the point of the guy you responded to. if chaves with hardly any experience and training a bad corner and a former soccer player gave Thurman a hard time then how really good is thurman

I'm disagreeing with him. Are you unable to comprehend what he posted and what I posted in response?

I don't care about all that other stuff you posted about corners and soccer players. I watch a lot of boxing and I know what I saw.

A big guy like Chaves with power and a strong chin would trouble a division filled with blown up 140lbers. It just so happened that last night he met another big guy with power and a strong chin who moved better than he did.

Chaves's team should've taken the Malignaggi fight when it was on the table instead of holding out for more money and he would be world champion now (and unlike Broner he would have stopped Paulie as would Thurman imo).

He didn't start too late. He is from a family of fighters. His grandfather was sparring of Carlos Monzón and Víctor Galíndez (who was light heavyweight world champion at the time) and his uncles were Argentinian champs.

sorry I used wrong quote. the reason chaves gassed out a little is there is no money behind him like Thurman. he was supposed to lose and almost won

Come on!! when he had to defend the latino title he had trouble in both fights...against Goncalo and Weis... I was there for both fights, no-one told me about it....then it took him 9 round to beat Flores....

He has been fighting bumbs his whole career, and even had trouble then...

Brian Castaño is the one you will be hearing about....soon
