im pretty sure most defenses of guys like charr have been mandatories.gomez won a title eliminator, and johnson and arreola were definiitely top 3 contenders.you can criticize these guys all you want, who is out there to fight
Yeah except that Charr wasn't a mandatory. And which great champ has lost to a bum?

Arreola and Solis were. Gomez too.

And in what world was Johnson and Arreola ever top 3 contenders? I mean wtf are you even talking about? Johnson beat Devin Vargas who's best win was journeyman Charles Davis. haha.

And yes, you can only fight the best available. How true that is. Unfortunately, Vitali has never fought the best available.

ah yes vitali needed time to prepare to fight a middleweight, great excuse. whilst that middleweight gets only 1 week to prepare for facing guy from five divisions higher.

absolutely nobody called for a rematch.not larry merchant, not byrd, not anybody
Vitali certainly didn't, he was hiding from that middleweight for 4 years.

mike tyson, lennox lewis, ezzard charles just to name a few

arreola wasnt wbc's number 1 ranked going into the vit fight?kevin johnson is currently the 8th ranked us hw,so on earth do you figure he wasnt a top contender when he was undefeated and fought vits lol

Even though Douglas and Rahman weren't "world class" they were certaintly not bums. Especially in comparison to Purrity who was a straight up journeyman with 20 or so losses on is res. JJ Walcott is a legend, I have no idea why you would say he's a bum.

Dude are you insane? Johnson was always a fat piece of cowdung who hasn't got a single good win on his résumé to this day. His best win is probably an old Bruce Seldon who is only his best because he mixed it with the best when he was in his prime, but also came up short every time.

Johnson was never top 3 as you said, he wasn't even top 10. Chris Arreola was highly ranked with the WBC at the time, #1 or #2.

In that case I see a much closer fight on the cards against Byrd with Vits most likely getting the nod for landing the harder, more effective punches. The Lewis rematch? I think Lennox crushes him in 5 when he comes in shape and prepared.

What exactly does this fantasy guessing game have to do with Vittles terribly weak resume and 10 best wins though?
Just asking... I wanted to know how you asses Vitali.

              One more question.

Once Vitali retire will you continue with Vitali threads ?

rahman is the definition of modern journeyman.he was definitely a bum.buster douglas had that magical night against mike and that was it
where did i say walcott was a bum,or even imply that?

kevin johnson is currently the 8th ranked U.S hw and is ranked 30 th in the world

I think kirk johnson was better than arreola before he turned into a fat lazy slob. he was ranked in the top 10 for a time before he lost to ruiz. he did kayo maskeav and beat larry donald both descent fighters. that said,,,he was in horrible shape when he fought vitali which has to take away from vitali's win somewhat

                  • The fact that we're discussing how good Arreola or Kirk Johnson are/were in order to big up Vitali's resume tells you all you need to know

no he isn't, its a lopsided poll

                    • i'm actually going to go through all these fights to check em out, I've only seen a few on account of them looking such bad opponents I never noticed. But now for the sake of knowledge and interest, I shall begin the backcatalogue work.
