Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is advising WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) to focus on the jab when he faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. De La Hoya faced Mayweather in 2007 and had a lot of success when he used his jab. In the second half of the fight he stopped using his jab and Mayweather took over, winning a twelve round split decision.

Yes but Canelo's jab is not fluid enough. Cotto has a much better jab and but for the few times he caught Floyd with it he got countered over it all night for the most part..
