Has The May-Ghost PPV Buys Been Released Yet?

I know why this thread was created. The TS knows why too. Hilarious. Oh, my bad. Band, SHO may have not profited the way that they wanted to, but I know for a fact that they didn't lose money.Comment

There is no difference between them. The thread is about the official numbers not being released. Pac/Bradley numbers were never released by HBO. Neither were the numbers for Pac/Marquez IV, Pac/Mosley (on Showtime) or Pac/Marquez III. At least the Showtime executive said the number exceeded 1 million PPVs, although no official numbers were released. No official at Showtime or HBO has said anything about the numbers for Pacquaio's last four fights.Comment

It doesn't matter to the network what the numbers were in those other fights. Sure if numbers inflated their profit is lower, but they're not taking a loss either way, much less a huge loss. But it's not just the loss, more of a rude awakening to what they got themselves into with that 6 fight contract. There is no difference between them. It's a bit winded but this is what I said right after the FMJ/Guerrero fight, so I'm totally with you on the "how does he out do the last fight" line of thought.Even more interesting is the prospect of sales for Floyd's fights post-Canelo. I don't see anybody else out there that Mayweather can do astronomical numbers with like he'll do with Canelo. There are a lot of respectable/decent fights out there that could perform well enough on PPV, but I don't see anybody else out there for Floyd post-Canelo that will put up the kind of massive numbers needed in order to justify those guarantees.
I mean, if ya'll think about it - what sense would it make for Floyd to fight Canelo NOW? Floyd has 5 fights left on his Showtime contract, and insists he's DONE after that. Why would Floyd make his second or third fight on that contract be the biggest fight he has out of the options he has. Look at it like this - Say he fights Canelo as his 3rd fight (of 6)... then what does he follow it up with as his last few fights, Devon Alexander?!?! Andre Berto?!? A rematch with Ortiz (not likely anyway)?!? No way. You don't make your last few fights fighting the likes of Devon or Berto or some ****. If your Floyd Mayweather Jr, you make your last few fights the biggest possible fights out there and minimize losing risk because it's the grand finale. He should fight the Devons and Bertos now - sit back and let Canelo/Cotto fight (and considers the winner) and Pacquiao vs whoever (and considers the winner).
Again, it just doesn't make sense to fight Canelo (or Pac for that matter) until the end of his 6 fight contract. You don't fight your big fights at the beginning of the countdown and then take the perceivable easier fights AFTERWARDS... you wait until the end and make it the coup de grace. If you're Floyd Mayweather Jr (where $$$$ is the ultimate goal) if you make your last contracted fight (EVER) a high profit/high value fight, it still leaves room for possible air of a 7th fight vs whoever the highest demand/highest money thriller the fans mouth waterinly demand. They insist he's "retired for good", until a media/fan wishlist is so high that he gets back into that era that was created back in 09/10, where the profiteers insist that he can make 100-150 million dollars guaranteed (not including PPV $).
Floyd says he's gonna finish up his 6 fights and then move on to other things in boxing, namely his Promotional Company, and will probably dabble in training (but IMO he wont find the glory in it he thinks he will because he knows the only thing he can control in this business is HIMSELF). The lure of BIG, easy money will bring him out if there's a huge clamour for it). But, you don't get all that if you end your fighting career fighting the likes of Devon Alexander or Andre ****ing Berto.
Since they bit the bullet and went with the big money fight with Canelo on Floyds second of a six fight guarantee, this is exactly why I think GBP added Matt/Garcia to the undercard. They want to ensure the biggest possible PPV buy rate and break records. I've already seen a lot of posters on here who said they weren't buying/weren't sure if they were buying the PPV now saying that the undercard sealed the deal for them. The casual fans were already buying this card regardless, the undercard helps convince the hardcore fans that use other methods to watch (or wait for replays) to buy the PPV, IMO.If this contract with Mayweather is to be a success, I think Showtime is going to have to rely on stacking the rest of his undercards as well as they're doing with this Alvarez bout, because Floyd vs. Khan, Alexander, or whoever just won't sell that well as a stand-alone fight.Comment

The "official" numbers will most likely never be released. Any why not? It probably did poorly for "mayweather" standards, so they would rather put it behind them and move on to the superfight. May vs. Canelo will most likely make up for it.Comment
