The ref is getting the blame because A) he started at 5 when no way in hell he was down for that long! B) it was a VERY quick count! And C) he never counted to 10, he waved him off after he said 9 and Malik was clearly able to continue!
Now before the fight I thought Scott would dominate, and by in large he was but during the fight I had the feeling that with the pressure Chisora would gas him and stop him late... But that phucked up ass ref didnt allow that to happen!!Comment

First of all, I called the Chisora win. Many bloggers, i.e. bandwagon hoppers, said Scott would pitch a UD shutout, which was absurd to anyone who looked at comparative fight history and historical compubox punch output numbers, not to mention looked at the relative experience of the two. Second, stoppage notwithstanding, Chisora was well on his way to a UD victory, which is what I thought would happen. Third, I bet most of the people *****ing about this result have no problem with the fairly similar Lewis/McCall I result. In both cases, **** happens. If you're not 1. put together enough or 2. smart enough; to get up by 8 and look sensible enough to continue, well, this stuff happens. Boxing is one of the more ambiguous sports in existence, you're not running a timed race, you're competing in a sport requiring a lot of oversight from a ref, you need to be wary of that oversight or you lose. Stop *****ing, strong victory by Chisora. No rematch remotely needed. Still think Scott would beat Wilder. And I hope to see Chisora facing Thompson next. That would be a great fight. Winner should fight Vitali(Thompson) or Wlad(Chisora).Comment

Just saw the video, and here's my take. Whether Scott said Chisora won doesn't matter. That was a bad call by the ref. He was up by 10, and he wasn't hurt. It's clear to see.Comment

He didn't wave the fight off at 9. He called nine and only then did Scott start getting up. The official rules might say ref's say 10 then wave it. But you see all the time refs waving the fight off at 10, its not unusual. What difference does it make anyway if you say 10 and because you've said 10 start waving, or just wave on what is 10, none. When the ref reached what was his 10 and waved the fight off was Scott in a position to continue? No.
If it had been up to me I would have been inclined to let the fight go on, the benefit of the doubt should go to the defending fighter in my opinion. But the decision certainly wasn't awful. Scott played with fire with the count. Theres a very good reason every boxer not called Malik Scott only waits as far as 8 to get up when they want to continue from being down on a knee. Especially when your fighting in the other dudes hometown ffs. Its ****** to suggest that he didn't do something very very dumb (supposing he did actually want to continue - which I'm not convinced he did).Comment

Scott did NOT beat the count, he was not standing at 10, he was standing at 11.
Rules are rules and it was a fair stoppageComment
