Like I said, if you wanna count mutts like Mikey Garcia then we can throw Quillin in there.

If Mexicans are the best then why is it that only one out of the 20 kazillion boxers y'all have belongs on the P4P list? The same amount Cuba has... one. Soon to be two after Lara whoops Canelo.
Garcia a mutt? Look I'm not going to lower myself you your level of childishness, but sorry to say this comparing Mexican boxing history to Cuba or PR is not even close.

I respect PR and Cuba for being such small islands and producing great boxers but the only country that can rival Mexico in the sport is the U.S.

Right now, Eastern European countries are making a bigger impact than PR or Cuba, so don't count your chickens before they are hatched.

This is the reason I talk to very few in this place about boxing because of nonsense like this.

You certainly can't put them in the same category as beating the likes of Barrera, Morales and Marquez. Nonetheless, I will not argue with Donaire's inclusion.

Everyone else you mention, however, doesn't register with most fans. It's a sad fact that only the hardest of the hardcore boxing fans follow those tiny little dudes. How can you call something a rivalry when the vast majority of fans don't even know -- or care -- that these fights are occurring? The media, especially in Latin America, will push anything that sells. If two ants fight over a molehill -- one happens to be Mexican and the other a Filipino -- it's a "new rivalry". And, by the way, Viloria flies even lower under the radar, since he's Hawaiian.
What the casual fan thinks of the sport and what it is are 2 different things. Truth be told the lower weight classes are actually watched and supported here in the Philippines as well as in Mexico, thus the rivalry might not be appreciated in US soil but it is here. Our fights tend to be held within the 126 and lower weight threshold due to world class filipino talent being on the smaller side of the spectrum.

Is it the Philippines fault for having most of their talented fighters weighting at 108 to 112? Simply because the US public and media dont care for it doesn't mean it is disregarded elsewhere. BTW Viloria is Filipino and has fought numerous times in the Philippines, including his stoppage victory over Gio Segura. Born in Hawaii or not the Filipino people still claim him as their own and give him such position and role in the sport.

Cubans are great and i respect them, i do see a strong rivalry coming.. it's just that in my opinion I'm more aware and see more activity vs the Filipino boxers at this moment in time. Disregarding weight classes.

Sure, sure...don't get your panties in a bunch. PR has a long, proud history of professional boxing -- one you're clearly living vicariously off of. But, as the old saying goes, what have you done for me lately? Cuba has been absent from pro boxing for decades. Yet, the moment we come back, we instantly take our rightful place amongst the boxing powers. Not even all of our good fighters are competing as pros.

Why you getting mad about my Garcia comment? Its simple, if you wanna list him as a champ then we list Quillin. Both come from Mexican/Cuban parents and born in the US.

Whos talking about boxing history? Did you not read the title of this thread and the OP?

And dont be a fkin hypocrite cause I hit you where it hurts. You wanna whine about childishness but youre quick to side with PRPP. Since you were so quick to side with him then why dont you answer my question too about PR fighters.

Wtf you talking about work? I suggest you educate yourself in Cuban boxing history. You think Cuban boxing JUST started? Do I need to educate you about certain Cubans who made a living fighting in Mexico?

Either way, no one is talking about the past or future. We're talking about NOW. So yes, right now Cuban boxing is superior to PR.
