Mexicans are the best boxers in the world IMO and Mexico's amateur system is terrible. Nobody gives a **** about amateur boxing in Mexico.

The pro game is so different than the amateur game, I think most fans don't understand that. Of course the amateur game can help you, but it's like comparing preparing for a sprint, or a marathon.

As far as amateurs In mexico go its almost non existent kids are turning pro at 15 to make money to survive there are talented kids in mexico that will never get a break because of life not like Cubans who were raised in gyms. Why are Cubans really good boxers the same reason the premier league (soccer) is top shelf kids are hand picked from an early age to train and given every opportunity to succeed . Mexican children do not carry such luxury

Rivalry ? Not yet , as the op has mentioned with Cuban bias.Theres been better fights between Mexicans. There is the possibility for top pick em fights. The Cuban guys are doing what they supposed to do .. try and fight the best guys or get the most profitable fights.

Please describe this "rivalry" between Mexico and the Philippines you're so "fascinated" by. It's a one-man wrecking crew (Pacquiao) versus a whole country. If you called it Mexico's rivalry with Manny Pacquiao, I would agree.
