Lennox Lewis stated that Mike Tyson would have never been able to beat him. Agree?

I belive Mike himself said that Lewis always would have been simply too big for him, Emmanuel steward said "Mike was always intimidated by lennox' size"

Mike was an on top fighter, he used intimidation tactics but when the opponent hit back he wasn't so good, throw in he himself probably didn't fancy the job against Lennox and it's hard to see a scenario where he wins

Oh don't get me wrong mike does have a chance, but i'd make lewis a sizable favorite if its prime vs prime.

If Rahman and McCall put Lennox down, you can be pretty sure an 80s Tyson would've stopped him.

faulty logic. that was post rooney tyson and he was obviously a mental mess for that fight every bit as much as lewis being over confident in the mcall and rahman losses. neither argument is valid imo. personally I favor tyson by kayo but I can see a case for lewis taking it late if he could weather the early storm

Considering their relative age, both fighters peaked at vastly different points in their career -Lennox in his veteran years (97-2002) and Tyson as a supernova of youth and aggression (85-88). Strange then a 'prime to prime' bout between Lewis/Tyson would suggest a man in his mid 30s versus a kid in his early 20s!

One thing for certain, the Tyson that Lennox Lewis defeated in 2002 was a DEAD MAN. Lennox took a cherry pick. Mike had no chance -not at that point- easily a full decade past his best and sloppily fighting C-Level comp like Francois Botha, Brian Nielsen, Orlin Norris, and Lou Savarese- is it any wonder why Lewis couldn't wait to feast on the-then faded Tyson?

But 'Prime for Prime' -let's say TYSON circa '88 vs LEWIS circa '00 -with the corners of Cus and Rooney versus Manny Steward -I would expect that LEWIS/TYSON to be a very competitive fight. It would be nothing like the geriatric mugging that Lennox committed back in 2002.

agreed. never understood why lewis got so much praise and credit for that fight. hes had better wins in his career

When Tyson was at his peak and people were trying to find worthy opponents to fight Tyson, people were trying to push Lewis forward as an opponnent.
Tyson would have been favourite. Peak against peak, Tyson would probably have the edge, even though LL will go down as greater.
Its just Tyson at his peak just didnt last that long. But Tyrell Biggs fougth both and he thinks Tyson was the best fighter he fought.
