Gamboa KOs Mares. Abner ought to be fighting Rigo at 122, not Yuri at 130.

This is what i thought when i first read it but Mares looked strong at 126 he systematically dismantled Ponce no easy task (ask Broner) so i wont cry about it much, i think it will be a really good fight honestly didn't even occur to me it was possible.... If he really steps up he should get the biggest balls in boxing award.

Gamboa is more skilled than Mares. Faster, stronger and better timing on his punches. Props to Mares for never ducking anyone. At a 130lbs catchweight Gamboa wins by mid round TKO I predict.

I like Gamboa. But I got him losing to TCrawford and MGarcia. I think they both outbox him . Him and Mares would be 50/50 to me. Just my 2 cents. All would be great match ups @ 130-135.

I don't know about Gamboa having better timing that Mares. If that was the case he would have stopped Ponce De Leon too.

Mares did better than expected against Ponce, but that's Ponce. Gamboa is a different animal. The reason why we never thought of a Mares-Gamboa match-up is because of the size disparity. You're at least the second guy that credits Abner for having guts to take this fight. We all know Yuri is a tall order for Mares.
