Does Canelo have a shot? Well, a long shot, IMO. I'd put his chances of winning at around 20%, personally.

I'm a little confuse by Roach's comments. He seems to be praising Mayweather's boxing ability but bashing him for not being an action fighter. This is coming from a person who actually coaches other men to box. So when he's shouting instructions from the corner instead of saying "box" he is actually saying "action"? Anyway, I think Canelo has a real shot. I've said before that Canelo has to fight a perfect fight to beat Mayweather. Well, Mayweather can't make too many mistakes himself. I think Canelo is going to be well prepared for this match. This cannot be the fight that Floyd show his age because that might cost him the fight.

          Alvarez can't win this fight
he's in the process of building his name up as a star
he's selling his belts for the payday and exposure
as long as he at least tries, there's nothing wrong with that
Guerrero did the same thing and is better off despite the loss
same thing with Alvarez; it's a smart sacrifice for him to make

In this case I think most of us can agree and say with certainty that Mayweather is gonna box all the way, like Miguel Vazquez box, though Floyd will be landing hard leather. It's just inevitable, the size differential is gonna be too big fight night.
Interesting. So you feel Canelo will walk Mayweather down at some point and KO him?

I understand why some ppl feel that Canelo is too BIG (even at 152). He is much bigger than Floyd. I'd be BS'ing if I said I didn't have slight concerns about the size differential.

However, Canelo really couldn't walk Austin Trout down. I know Trout is not faster, nor does he punch harder than Mayweather. But Mayweather is a master boxer. He instinctively knows when to punch, when to hold, when to switch from defense to offense.

I'm not sure Canelo is prepared for such a ring general like Mayweather.

I got Mayweather by SD or UD.

Canelo's size is a real factor tho...

              @ harwri008

              But ...

              1) When have you seen Floyd make many mistakes in a fight?
              2) Didn't Guerrero think he was "well-prepared" for his match?
              3) Did Floyd show one iota of the effects of aging in his last (& recent) fight?

Freddie is about to go in the win column on this one.

Agreed. Losing to the best P4P fighter on the planet can do you no harm. Putting in a solid performance, even in a losing effort, can do a fighter some good.

I agree Floyd rarely makes mistakes, but he has been caught before. Guererro was able to touch him a few times. The difference is Guererro didn't have the size, punching power, or a plan B. There are subtle signs but Floyd is losing a step. It's nothing dramatic but he is... With that being said, no way I would bet against him. All I'm saying is I gave all of his recent opponents zero chance of beating him. I can't say the same this time. Canelo has a legit shot. Whether or not he can pull it off is the big question.

If Roach says it, it must be true. I would love to hear Mannys most loyal fans find a way out of this one, and everyone else who has been yelling "new champ on fight night" etc. emotion picks are never as good/logical as reasonable picks.
