If youre judging this based on the Trout /Canelo fight...you can be no more WRONG!
Canelo was in a comfort zone with Trout. He didnt have to walk him down! They knew he was ahead on the cards. Trout new he was behind and could do nothing about it.
You cant judge a fight that had open scoring on ones performance.

As much as I enjoy watching his craft, I can't wait til he retires, there are countless posters on this site that only live for trolling/baiting his fans, and speaking absurdities about Floyd, whats even worse is most of these people have 0 to little boxing knowledge and only want to antagonize. Just once, if all the threads in NSB were about serious boxing discussion, if only once...

I understand why some ppl feel that Canelo is too BIG (even at 152). He is much bigger than Floyd. I'd be BS'ing if I said I didn't have slight concerns about the size differential.

However, Canelo really couldn't walk Austin Trout down. I know Trout is not faster, nor does he punch harder than Mayweather. But Mayweather is a master boxer. He instinctively knows when to punch, when to hold, when to switch from defense to offense.

I'm not sure Canelo is prepared for such a ring general like Mayweather.

I got Mayweather by SD or UD.

I think Canelo is gonna try to get cute, he already said he can box Mayweather, which is insane. That or he'll patiently stalk Mayweather and apply pressure. Canelo is scary in the sense that he's deceptively fast with his hands, changes speed and knows how to throw a good combination, however his foot speed is an issue, not saying he's slow on his feet but Floyd has seen faster mobile fighters than Canelo before and plenty of them. That's mainly why I don't like Canelo's chances.

I don't care what era one decides to go back to, facing opponents this significantly bigger than you was not common place, even the greats would have gone through serious trouble. Floyd does it well because he's that damn good defensively. Some of us understand how skilled he is but credit must always be given.

Anyhow, I stand by that original post. Put it this way, Trout was better than any fighter Pacman fought over 135. And Canelo damn sure gave a decent account of his skills in that fight.
