They say it because he usually does come in above 170 on fight night. What was his weight his last fight vs trout on fight night, it was above 170 i'll tell you that.

That's correct but remember he was fighting a bigger man
In trout who was also over 170, every other fights he's
Had a at 154 he's come in at 165 give or take a pound which
Is what most fighter at that weight normally do

On one hand, cutting 20 pounds to make weight simply isn't healthy and conducive to conditioning. On the other hand, a lot of people who expect Canelo to overpower Floyd are banking on Canelo coming in 20-plus pounds heavier.

If that doesn't happen, which appears possible now, and Canelo weighs less than 170 on fight night, size-wise he'll basically be another Victor Ortiz without Victor Ortiz's stamina.
Right but he may even come in a bit smaller then Ortiz because Ortiz is every bit of 5'9 and was 164 while Canelo is really only 5'8 and will come in around 165 and now that he is smaller his body may not balloon up anymore he may even tip the scales at 151 so basically Canelo will be an average welterweight's size.. IMO he has a better chance coming in around 168 he needs to be a lot heavier and bigger then Floyd to cause him problems like Cotto did not come in light as a feather trying to be quick when he's not..

That is after they signed. Shaefer and Oscar have to promote now as the fight is all signed up. No choice.

BUT this was Oscar and Schaefer BEFORE the fight was signed:

"Schaefer: Canelo cannot go lower than 154 for a Mayweather fight"

De La Hoya: Mayweather has to come up to 154 for Canelo
"Canelo is barely making 154, says De La Hoya, and Canelo can’t even make 152 for a catchweight fight. "
