Who actually did the "running:" Rigo or Donaire?

I think the boo's was a result of both guys. Rigo did undoubtedly do some running but he was also doing his job. While Donaire was incapable of doing his and actually cutting the ring off.

If all u do all fight is go backwards you're running. The fight is in front of you.

If you go backwards without throwing punches and punishing the aggressor, you're running. I saw Rigo punish Donaire, especially in the twelfth, where Nonito was literally running. I also saw Guillermo engage and not back off several times, especially in the first four rounds. If both men in every fight always come forward, that's not boxing. That's brawling. If that's your preference, that's fine, but don't tell me that a skilled counterpunching boxer is a "runner."

The fight was meant to be boring to the majority of fans. They're both defensive fighters. Since it wasn't peppered with exciting undercards, it all comes down to them being mindful of their responsibility to give the paying audience their money's worth.

You can't just stand there and wait to counter. If the opponent does the same thing NOTHING will happen.

There's certainly nothing wrong with doing whatever you want to do in the ring. But don't complain if HBO calls you out for it. They're the ones taking financial risk.

Donaire can run all he wants in that fight because he had the belt. The challenger is supposed to fight like he really wants it. It turned out that all the challenger wanted was to survive the fight. Donaire fought two battles. A running man and the huge responsibility to entertain the audience.

If you watch any of Rigondeaux's boxing matches, the first thing you notice is that all he does is run and taunt his opponent to keep chasing him, while throwing counter straights. He is only the agressor when his opponent is in danger (i.e. when nonito's eye closed). But he has an excuse for the running; he can't fight without getting dropped or wobbled..
