a never was? I'm not sure what he's supposed to be have been. He lost against a very good boxer, boxers lose. It's not a big deal. With the exception of Rigo he can still dominate super Bantam for years to come and do very well at Featherweight.
and to be a 'has been' it would imply that he can't amount to anything anymore. Which we have idea if he can or can't. He hasn't fought after his lose.
He's still in his prime. He's still a very good fighter. He just ran into a better one. Rigo was able to capitalize off of Nonito's weaknesses where as other fighters could not. It sucks that we can't get Donaire-Mares though. That has always been the fight I wanted to see.
Is Nonito Donaire a "has been" a "never was" or is his best still to come??
wachugot????????
A has been ? Why ? Because he lost to one of the greatest amateur fighter ever and an incredibly hard fighter to look good against, while managing to drop him in one round ?
Donaire is still one of the best fighter out there, he was unprepared and fought an incredible fighter in Rigondeaux. It's not because you lose a fight that you're a bad fighter

I wouldn't say in his prime... I think the whole "I can't make weight anymore" thing is a sign of bad things to come... More laziness than anything else... And that would be pushing him out of his prime
However, to say a "has-been" implies that he's officially got nothing lest? IDK what happens at 126, but he's still the unmistakable #2 at 122lbs... And I'd even guess a rematch with Rigo is winnable if he comes correct

dude how many boxers when they get older find it harder to make weight?
Most of them. even the greats
i think he can win a world title in 4 weight classes..maybe 5 before he retires. one loss to a fighter like rigondeaux doesn't automatically mean he's washed up and done...
He might be past his prime and he has moved up in weight many times and really looks soft for a 122 pounder. I would never say he was a "never was" because he beat so many champions and high rated fighters. The guy could damn sure fight and punch with real power and he is probably still very good.
