First "they" said Mayweather wasn't ready for Genaro Hernandez. Genaro was UNDEFEATED at 130! And he'll give the young brash Mayweather a boxing lesson!
Result: Mayweather by TKO
Then right after they said Floyd Mayweather cherry picked the old Genardo Hernandez. ANGEL MANFREDY is the real young lion at Jr. Lightweight. He just knocked out the great IRISH hype, ARTURO GATTI.
Mayweather doesn't DUCK Manfredy. In his very next fight, guess who he fought?
Result: Mayweather TKO
Then after Floyd fights a few tough but lesser known challenges, the new threat was CHICO CORRALES. Corrales was ko'ing guys like silly at the time. The haters said Mayweather will never fight Chico! A mixed breed Vato that can punch.
So Mayweather obliges and fight Chico.
Result: Mayweather TKO
Then after Mayweather beat Chico, the new cry was HE'S AFRAID TO MOVE UP FROM 130. HE ONLY WANTS TO BREAK JOE LOUIS' TITLE DEFENSE RECORD BECAUSE HE'S SCARED OF BIGGER CHALLENGES!
Mayweather moves up and fights the #1 RANKED LIGHTWEIGHT at the time, Jose Castillo. He fights Castillo in his very first LW fight and beats him. Then beats him again in an immediate rematch.
His entire career has gone like this which leads us to CANELO.
After Canelo it'll be... LUCAS MATTHYSE...then after Matthyse TKO it'll be GGG then.. FROCH...then it'll be WEIDMAN...lol
I don't think there has been a fighter that Floyd has schooled that he was accusing of being scared of or ducking
It took years for Manny to finally agree to the drug testing. That played a big part in the fight not happening as well. Both Floyd and Manny are responsible for the fight not happening. Period.
You must not frequent these boards enough if you actually believe Andre Ward does not get hated on often. Go through the ARCHIVES and look for any thread that has CARL FROCH attached to it. People on here treat Andre Ward like he lost to Froch. Even more, I see a lot of people declaring Ward a headbutting cheat that won't leave his hometown.
And as for Mayweather, you're crazy if you don't think any of the hate he gets is because he's BLACK. Are you kidding me? Let me guess, in your eyes, racism died once ***** got elected? Right?
Like I stated earlier, I've been around boxing forums long enough to know when something is "trending". I've walked into too many threads and seen words like WATERMELON, KFC, FRIED CHICKEN, CRACK HEAD ROGER, CRACK HEAD MAYWEATHERS, WELFARE, etc...
So none of that has to do with Mayweather's ethnicity?
I realize Floyd plays the "bad guy" for the media. Look at his career as a whole tho, his persona wasn't always like it is today. He used to be more humble and eager to please.
But HATERS like Larry Merchant helped create this "MONEY MAY" persona he has today. Merchant and the other haters would always try to discredit Floyd by saying his fights aren't exciting, or he doesn't like being hit. Or he can't sellout any arenas.
Why didn't Arturo Gatti get criticized more times than not for living like a rock star, not taking training seriously, and taking epic beatings inside of the ring?
You think Floyd could have gotten away from criticism if he lived and fought like Gatti? Doubt it.
This is where race comes into play. I'm not saying everything is about COLOR, but it definitely plays a big part in a lot of people's lives. Lets not front.
Man, these boards are filled with extremists and haters, I don’t go by that on these forums, I have yet to meet someone who said I hate Floyd Mayweather because he’s black.
Those names people call him and his family are because they are ****** and usually insult everyone except anyone in the Mayweather camp. Have you not ever said any stereotypical or racist comment towards other fighters? I say them all the time and am absolutely not racist. If it was due to them being black, how come I don’t see that happening for guys like Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Ali, hell eve Roy Jones. Those guys weren’t in strip clubs burning dollar bills and being ignorant. That simple, and I am a Mayweather fan by the way but a majority of this hate he bring on to himself.
Andre Ward hate I see on here isn’t him ducking fighters, people hate on his style and him fighting at home, which they have every right to. But I have yet to see someone hate him for his personality or being black.
Why should anyone hate on Gatti? Doing coke is only doing harm to himself and isn’t disrespectful to anyone but himself, his fighters were entertaining, he wasn’t a **** talker, and he fought everyone, whats there to hate? He never bragged about what he did.
Someone like Malinaggi usually got hated on because of the way he spoke and act, and he’s white.
That would be a bad move ..... the best thing to do is get as many fights as possible at 147. Now I know that he can't get too many due to the circumstances of later missing the opportunity. So that is why I say as much as possible.
Remember Hatton being able to do what he did to most 140lbs but had issues at 147 even against lower level fighters than Floyd .......
Size had nothing to do with Mayweather-Hatton, though. He lost to Mayweather because he wasn't good enough, not because Mayweather was too big. It would be the same thing with Matthysse.
People have backed off Sergio because he genuinely looked down against Murray. And with all his injuries combined with age, he likely won't ever fully recover. So that fight doesn't hold anything close to the same meaning it might have once. If Sergio comes back and looks nearly normal, the demand will return.
If Garcia beats Matthysse, I guarantee the majority who say Matthysse will knock Garcia out will want Mayweather to fight Garcia. No matter who wins that fight, they are the best realistic option.
There is no one with speed and boxing ability good enough to even give Mayweather a competitive fight, let alone beat him. If Alvarez can't do it, no one at 147 or 140 can come close. So the only risks are punchers, which is why the overwhelming demand for Mayweather opponents tends to be punchers. If Lara or Trout was a realistic option, I'd love to see Mayweather fight them, but they're not.
Is it fair to evaluate Sergio on a fight to fight basis relative to a MAyweather fight? I get the "what have you done for me lately" thing but his performance against Murray doesn't erase the other things he's done.
It reasons that his best challenege would come from someone who also is multi dimensional. Floyd spent the majority of his pro and amatuer career as the less powerful fighter-he KNOWS how to avoid power guys and nuetralise what they have. SO the only risk with a power puncher is the off chance he catches floyd with something big and KO's him.
Notice the fighters that caught floyd with the best shots-Zab and SHane-boxers with speed. Cotto gave floyd his toughest fight in years by boxing and moving. Yet floyd has completely dominated the big puncher's he's faced.
Thats the thing about GGG IMO-its not his power that makes him a threat to floyd its the amatuer pedigree and the ability to cut off the ring and deal with movement.

When fighters reach Sergio's age, then yes, you start evaluating them on a fight by fight basis. Floyd has reached that same point, you never know when he might lose it and struggle with someone he shouldn't. Sergio is almost 40, he's had nonstop injuries since the Chavez fight, and his reflexes looked terrible against Murray.
No "boxer" at welterweight or lower is even remotely capable of using speed and movement to beat Mayweather. There is no Mosley to fight. Let alone none of them deserve the fight more than Matthysse will if he beats Garcia, or vice versa. Matthysse would stand a better chance than Alexander or Khan or any speedy boxer you could name. Not because of the power, but because he knows how to deliver it. Whereas Alexander or Khan's speed means nothing because they're incredibly predictable and incapable of making adjustments.
I would be really (pleasantly) surprised if Matthysse even competed. I can't see it. Worth making though with the guys left out there, the fight is very sellable.

did you just make all this up?
no one berates a young gun coming up fighting the best guys around
he wasnt like broner talking alot of sht, getting alot of attention and fighting sht fighters when there are better ones around
it'd have to have been a very small minority of just idiots, so quit lying you little sht

There may not be any shane's but there are Zab's. WHile zab didn't win and he eventualy was outclassed-what he did in the 1st 4 rounds can't be undone.
If you take someone with zab's speed and defense and give them some stamina they have a great chance against floyd but likely wont knock him out.
I am not sold on size being the key to beat Mayweather.
