Toney was flat footed but dude was damn near unhittable, great reflexes, iron chin, great upper body movement, huge power counter shots...

Broner like a poor man's version of james toney

I do agree with you on the 2nd part about broner...

There are posters on here who think Maidana won't land a clean punch on broner if they fight, they must have watched a different broner to me as Broner turtles up (and stands still, no movement) for 30 odd seconds a time leaving his opponent with time to land a few shots, especially to the body.

Against a harder Puncher this could spell disaster, i give Maidana a good chance of beating broner while most think its a mismatch. broner is more skilled than Chino but isn't a defensive spoiler like a Devon Alexander, so Maidana would get his chances to land shots.

I do think Broner is being overrated, Defensively as I've already covered, and possibly his power at 147 might not be as great a weapon as it was at the lower weights. Paulie has told the press in the past if his opponents hit hard but said that Broner lacks power.

I enjoy broner and his fights though so i'll watch his career with interest, he may prove me totally wrong and outclass/destroy Maidana and go on to be a dominant force at 147.

I think Broner is massively overrated but he is beating Maidana. A shot Morales beat Maidana about 3 years ago so Broner will annihilate him.

The next time Broner fights at welterweight I think we'll see him much more comfortable and fluid in the ring.
I think what you're saying is possible, he'll settle in and probably fight better future fights. But that won't make him the heir apparent to Floyd Mayweather or worthy of a fraction of the hype he's been getting. I don't see what the rush was with this kid, he should have just been patient and waited his turn. Mayweather's successor doesn't have to look like him but he does need to have as much or more talent.

There's a reason so many people have taken notice of Broner. He does have talent, on some nights it's been undeniable. Has it been undeniable against a top-level opponent? Not yet.

I agree with you 100% that Broner is hyped past his accomplishments and demonstrated skills in the ring. I'm just saying there's still time for him to show everyone what he's made of.

Everybody has off-nights and Broner happened to have one against Malignaggi, but it was a transition fight for him to move to a much higher weight class, so should it be a surprise that he was sluggish and inactive throughout? He still beat Paulie on points in my eyes, his punches were much harder, faster and still very accurate. He just didn't throw enough of them. He didn't look like his usual self that night.

I think he'll look a lot better in his next fight, but who knows? This is boxing and part of the fun of spectating is that you never know what might happen or who might be the next top dog.

he's definitely got talent but I don't think he's exceptional, he's in the mix with all those tip guys at 140-147 and could beat any of them bar Floyd on any given night, but he's beatable by slot of those guys too.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being barely overrated and 10 being super overrated, I would say 15.
