calzaghe did nothing wrong, yes he got desperate in the end and did travel but he tried his best to get them to come to wales which they never did

hopkins himself admitted years before they fought, he agreed to come to wales to fight the champ, in the end he changed his mind, a lot of guys did that vs calzaghe

challengers who have less status should travel and beat the champ, not force the champion to come to them

I think it is american fans in general, they are happy for their guy to sit at home and wait for guys to come to them, but if a european does it, they make bs threads like these

the reason calzaghe never had bigger fights is because american based fighters ducked him

when he did go over to america, he made two legends his b....especially the racist hopkins, he outboxed him, hopkins and his fans relied on a gift decision, when it never came, they keep making excuses till this day
It's precisely this kind of piety which prevents me from taking fans of Calzaghe as real, knowledgable boxing followers. I mean seriously, to say Jones Jr was a legend at 40-years-old when he was coming back from multiple and devastating back-to-back knockouts is an insult.

Calzaghe won his vacant title in 97. Jones was in his absolute prime, and available to fight between 97 and say 02/03. Look at Calzaghe's response below to the proposition of taking on a prime Jones Jr in the lions den. Compare that with Hatton and his approach to secure a superfight with Maywether.

The onus was on Calzaghe. Frank Warren was able to protect him through his suspect relationship with the WBO. That way Calzaghe could fight anyone in the top 50 of the grimy WBO rankings in low risk high reward fights. The life of me can't even understand how 35,000 people would pay to watch him fight Peter Manfredo!

Calzaghe blatantly ducked Johnson. I think 16,000 tics were sold for that fight, but when Johnson asked for his training costs to be covered on the first occasion, Calzaghe said no and Johnson smelt it and walked.

Hopkins fans love that one. It somehow excuses their man ducking out of a Calzaghe fight for $3m. Hopkins was more interested in other fighters.

After beating the formidable Morrrade Hakkar, Hopkins defiantly shouted to the TV screen...... "What's up Fernando Vargas??!"

        Legendary.

Calzaghe already toyed with and outclassed a near prime RJJ. Do you really think a version of Roy a year or 2 younger would make that much difference.

I think joe was a **** fighter to watch. Never cared for him but I love how he beat Hopkins after he said he would never lose to a white guy. And the beat down he gave a shot Roy jones. Showboated and everything. Gave him a taste of his own medicine. Calzaghe ain't **** though, his 0 means nothing to me.

Hopkins managed himself for most of his career which meant he missed out on big fights with Toney, Jones II, and dare I say it Calzaghe. But to imply Hopkns avoided Calzaghe through fear is pretty far-fetched. Hopkins has a resume which Calzaghe's doesn't even come close to.

A prime Jones would humiliate Calzaghe. I mean a 40 yr old Jones nearly knocked Calzaghe out in the first round. In his prime he would've put him down and kept him there. Don't forget, Jones went on to get knocked out in 1 minute by Danny Green. LMAO

When you say "missed out", you mean ducked. Hopkins ducked all three men because of his delusions of grandeur.

RJJ was near his prime when the 36 year old Calzaghe schooled him.

You have a pretty clear agenda.
