I'm replying to your comparison. One would fight him at 160, the other at 152, if even that.

No problem, I'm telling you why one would be more of a legit win, cause in reality there'd be 8lb of difference for Sergio to overcome. Nobody expects him to go up to middle, despite Lyle's spin. BUT, you sure as hell expect a 2x and current SWW champ to unify at 154 and not 152. And not to use "I'm too small" as an excuse to dodge the best comp available at the weight

Who cares. It's not like Mayweather would fight a middleweight or is obligated to, and even if he decided to then yes Martinez should be the one because he is the man at that weight at present and his body of work speaks for itself no matter what any fanboys says.

He did what he had to do to win the negotiations. Winning the fight isnt good enough anymore.

You should thank this guy for that:

I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter because he faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catch weight. He wasn't the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained. He wasn't hydrated.
But the thing is, CWs are for guys going up in weight, not for #1 ranked 2x champs.

People need to stop viewing boxers as athletes and start looking at them as celebrity..the casual fan brings them most money because they are the quintessential hardest market to attract..when you've got them you've got the entertainment world by the b@lls. Personally I don't get why Mayweather fans get so angry or bothered by the comments of people who don't like him. Get mad when folks stop talking about him..that would make more sense. When you view boxers as celebrities it explains why people want certain fights. Let's stop pretending folks only want to see him fight pacquaio, martinez, golovkin, williams (prior to the accident in my case) so they can see him lose, people want to see him fight those guys because those are the most exciting names in a sport. Fans aren't going out of their way to watch one brilliant rapper battle a crappy one...same applies to the casual boxing public. So folks need to relax and start looking at things not only from a glass half full perspective. I loved seeing Jordan play the knicks because I knew it would be exciting. Same applies to boxing now. We want the hottest names in the sport vs the biggest names in the sport. Hell people want the Klitschko brothers to fight each other if that indicates anything. Floyd and Manny want tens of millions in purses this is what they have to live with.

Floyds no spring chicken anymore and hes giving up a ton to take Canelo on. Age, size, strength... Floyd cant fight the best in his own division without being critized.

He's a younger, better preserved, faster, more talented, more multidimensional than Marquez, who is apparently willing to fight top level guys in his 5th division without a CW. And he's not even a 1x champ there. That's kinda my point, for all his greatness (GOAT in his mind lmao) the standards for the guy are lower, he's not even expected to meet the standards of a decent champ in his 5th division.

And get this: his main excuse is weight, and this is from serial fight night weighin refusenik. Please spare me...
