Is Golovkin a better fighter than Matthyse for you?

I feel like since Matthyse lost to an old enough Zab Judah and Devan Alexander, that he can lose again if he meets someone who can box some and has some heart.

Whereas with Golovkin, I feel like he is the full package. He has a stellar amateur career (365 wins, 5 losses!!), went to the olympics. He has very good footwork and is good at cutting off the ring.

What do you guys think? Is there a different in classes between these 2 big ****ers, or are they to be placed in the same bracket?

Your first sentence shouldn't be used as a reliable point to discredit Lucas. He was arguably robbed in both.

This. Though seeing lucas in with better overall competition and adapting to technical fighters the way he has since the split decision robberies makez me lean towards Lucas kinda

i think golovkin has the higher ceiling. i wish he was a couple years younger though. didn't realise he was 31.

Not sure about who the better fighter is but I've seen more from Lucas that would suggest he is the more complete. Seen more variety and at a higher level but that isn't to say GGG does not have more to his game, he just hasn't really had to show it yet and might not depending on his competition and the fact his style is so effective.

If I had to give my views further, to me it seems like Matthyse is an Earnie Shavers.

Very powerful fighter, if he catches you then you are gone. But might not be able to beat the elite of the elite. (like Shavers couldn't beat Ali or Larry Holmes.) While Golovkin seems like Foreman. Foreman could beat Frazier and a prime Norton. (but lost to the great game plan of Ali.)

Please note, this is my opinion ATM. Golovkin obviously hasn't fought the very very best yet, but I get this vibe that he could well beat the elite. Alas, i'm not saying if Matthyse fought Mayweather that he couldn't beat him.

i think they're about even. mathysse has faced better opposition so he gets the nod because of that.

Lucas was robbed in those two fights. . . And if someone wants to argue that he wasn't, I'm fine with that. If someone wants to say it was a couple close fights that he lost, I can see your point as well. But he wasn't definitively beaten by Zab and Devon, who are both top notch competition. I think Lucas is a little more complete, but both guys are very fun to watch. They're the kind of fighters boxing needs right now.
