Does anyone here understand television? Lamps and Max taking two different viewpoints was by designed. Television is about entertainment. A show about boxing politics is already kinda boring. How boring would it be if two guys just sat there agreeing with each other?

The differing viewpoints and strong personalities that HBO employs are great for people who have HBO and just happen to catch a fight on Saturday. Showtime has boring commentators. Other than Paulie, I cant even name one. With HBO, whenever I hear Lamps, Merchant, or Kellerman, I know a fight is on. I might always agree with their commentary, but it is entertaining..

Back to the fight game.. Did anyone notice Lamps taking a shot at Showtime at the end when talking about Paulie/Broner?

Lampley and Kellerman have the right tone of voice in the sport business. It's animated and it makes every event come alive. Paulie is a good addition to Showtime and is getting better. They should replace Jim Gray and hire someone like MMA's Joe Rogan or anyone with a very animated voice. This is sports not a documentary or something.

I think that's bush league. He wasn't boring at all to many of us, me included. Fought a great fight.

As a supposedly knowledgeable commentator it's Lampley's job to educate the ignorant fans who don't know skill when they see it. Instead he is degenerating into just another part of the mindless mob who only wants face first brawlers and who boos in the first round if they don't get immediate gratification.
I think max set him straight when he gave his analysis on rigo! Made lampley look like he didn't know **** abt boxing when he broke down rigo!

why do they assume the booing was for rigo and not for donaire? I mean rigo was the one doing his job, donaire wasn't! It was him who was afraid to engage cause he knew he would get popped by rigo if he did! Seriously, this type of comments by Lampley on HBO are one of the most unprofesional things i've EVER seen and it's an insult to the sport of boxing. Something needs to be done about **** like this. It's so disrespectful to an elite athlete like rigo who abandoned his homeland in order to show the world how great he is and after all the pain, suffering and hardwork he has gone through, when he gets his marquee victory (that should earn him all the respect in the world) against the guy these same clowns were crowning as the next P4P great, this bull**** is what he gets in return. It's sad. And the same goes for Arum's treatment of Rigo. It is equally as sad. Someone needs to really stand up to these people so the athletes (and the sport of boxing) get the respect they deserve.

I enjoyed Rigondeaux-Donaire but it was exciting because of the mental chess match between the two fighters, not really because of anything that happened in the ring.

Rigondeaux is a boring fighter. He never tried taking the fight to Donaire or leading at all, even when he had a big points lead built up. He's got a ton of talent and skill, and that can be captivating in its own way, but just because he's very talented doesn't mean he's exciting all the time, or even a lot of the time. He isn't.

I might pay to go see a Rigondeaux main event but I would have a hard time imagining taking my casual boxing friends to the fight. They wouldn't enjoy it, at best they might get some insight hearing me talking about the great moves Rigondeaux is making in the ring. They probably wouldn't even appreciate watching him on TV, let alone paying money and travel expenses to go see him live.

How many of you would honestly put up $500 to travel to a Rigondeaux fight? How many of you would honestly invite three friends to go see him fight with you? I like Rigondeaux and I think he has an argument for P4P top 5 but let's be real, he's a boring fighter.

Donaire was the fighter chasing after Rigondeaux, leading with punches and generally driving the fight. He wasn't successful against Rigondeaux because the Cuban fighter didn't stick around long enough for Donaire to hit him. Anybody who watched that fight knew who was trying to drive it and create action (Donaire) and who was trying to minimize and control what little action there was (Rigondeaux).

Regardless of who the fans were actually booing, the fact is they were booing. If Rigondeaux's talent is so transcendent that anyone who sees it would be dazzled, there wouldn't be booing. People like fighters who take risks; Rigondeaux didn't take any against Donaire.

He's just mad because HBO kept hyping Donaire for a very long time and suddenly Rigo shows up and completely dominates him.

What we don't need is someone jizzing over grazing blows and randomly screaming for their favorites

Is he not allowed to call a boring fighter....boring?

I don't see anything wrong with what he said really. As another poster mentioned, they don't cater to boxing's hipsters who think they're the shit because they only support "slick" and "crafty" technicians. They really couldn't care less about them. They cater to the majority, and the majority has voted, Rigo is boring.

PS: The entire HBO crew is garbage, they need Larry back.
