Rigondeaux deserves it, hardly anyone thought he would win on here, let alone in the fashion he did.....he completely beat Donaire's ass and schooled him. He deserves all the "slurping" and props he gets and than some.

Instead he gets rewarded with commentators, who are supposed to all it like it is, calling him boring. Gotta love boxing.

Are you really saying Jim Lampley is a bad commentator for having a different opinion than you? Yes, Rigo is extremely skilled, I never thought for one second that he would do what he did to Donaire.

That being said, there is a limit for me when these skills stop being entertaining to me personally. My point is, if I dont find Rigo exciting does that mean I'm just a casual fan? Does that mean I don't know boxing? Opinions and preferences my friend, expert or not, everyone has one.

Completely agree. It made me cringe while he was undressing Rigo's performance as "boring". I was like YOU of all ****ing people should appreciate the masterclass that was put on. Truly disheartening.

Lampley was super hard on rigo... but max was the complete opposite.
People WERE booing. That's the truth. Rigo is a tough sell... that's the truth.

Max has always loved skilfull fighters though. Loves dat slickness.

Max might be a d ick rider at times but I honestly like the guy and he seems to give some guys credit where the others sometimes dont. Rigo deserves praise and that fight wasnt even boring... He dominated Donaire..no exaggeration. Not his fault Donaire couldnt make a fight of it...

Boxing isn't only about skill.

I'd say 70% of the sport is about entertainment and 30% is about skill.

If you can be skillful and entertaining then you will be a superstar.

If you're more entertaining to watch than you are skillful then you will be a star.

If you are skillful, but not entertaining to watch you will be stuck in no-man's land struggling to get big fights with a small but militant cadre of supporters.

if you move foward; he jumps back, fient; he jumps back, very fleet footed, tough to catch up with but you dont know when he's gonna jump back or finally stand his ground with a counter, but he wont lead, that's one thing that's clear

not unless he is positive the opponent has his guard down(and these dont come often, because he checks, double, and triple checks)

i know he wants to win the fights, but throwing 3 punches a round is depressing, as a pro boxer, you have an obligation to actually entertain, and i dont mean having to get into wars, but fists should be flying

when he fought donaire he went full-blown amatuer, land a punch, knows he's ahead on points now does nothing for the rest of the round and just rides off that one punch(and rigo fans who love to bring in compubox, reason rigo threw more in total is because of the big number in jabs to keep donaire at bay or guessing, not actual jabs since he doesn't have one, donaire threw 214 power punches to rigo's 176)

sht, i realise engaging and throwing punches ups the risk to getting hit yourself but this isn't the amatuers, and when you fight like an amatuer dont cry when you get paid like one

I like how Kellerman defended Rigondeaux but to rank him above Marquez, just because Marquez struggled with some guys several years back, is just insane. Marquez just put Pacquiao (P4P #2 at the time and certified ATG) to sleep, after outboxing him and getting robbed in the previous fight. Not only should he be ranked above Rigondeaux, he should be #2 above Ward.

I think that's bush league. He wasn't boring at all to many of us, me included. Fought a great fight.

As a supposedly knowledgeable commentator it's Lampley's job to educate the ignorant fans who don't know skill when they see it. Instead he is degenerating into just another part of the mindless mob who only wants face first brawlers and who boos in the first round if they don't get immediate gratification.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout Rigo-Donaire. I waited for that fight for at least a year and felt like either could knock the other out at any moment. Not a boring fight at all. Sure, neither fighter threw a lot of punches, but it was intense honestly.
