As long as he doesn't start eating spinach balls he should be OK.

I don't know why but whenever I read about a guy training in big bear they always end up losing.
I know it's wrong and I'm sure there are plenty of guys who trained there and went on to win their fights.
But for me it's synonymous with losing and like a bad omen.
Regardless canelo loses this fight wherever he does his training.
The only guy I see beating Floyd is Amir Khan wearing a motorcycle helmet and a neck brace.

I don't think the high altitude affected Oscar as much as it was due to his eating Bambi meat and believing he could beat Pacquiao looking like a skeleton.

I'm sure Canelo got some advice on swallowing pee and throwing rocks from JM Marquez.

I believe you should train in an environment that you are fighting in.

They have machines now that help with oxygen levels I believe.

No, I don't think it's a mistake. If it was so many fighters would not go there to train. I live at 7500 feet elevation in the mountains east of Albuquerque and the humidity is very low here and it probably is low in big bear as well. Oscar trained there most of his career so training there was not the reason he was weak. Most fighters make weight by drying out a day or two before the fight. For some reason Oscar got his weight down below 147 weeks before the fight and it ruined him. If he had made weight in the standard way I am sure he would have been much stronger and come in the ring weighing about 158 pounds instead of 145.5 pounds. Juan Marquez does his running at 12500 feet elevation just as he has done for many years and he has always been in great shape.

My personal opinion is you should train as closely to the real fight as possible.

Unless you are fighting in Big Bear, I wouldn't train there.
