Is Canelo making a mistake in training in Big Bear California?

The high altitude supposedly increases red blood cell count because of the relative lack of oxygen in the air. But from what I've heard this could be broscience, Oscar trained there for the Pacquiao fight and we all know what happened there. The English national team was also criticised for training in the high altitude and some commentators blamed their poor performance in the Euros for this.

The theory goes that it simply impedes your ability to train because it's too damn humid so any potential benefit in red blood cell count is offset by a poor training camp.

I think its a situation where you have to let your body evolve to the point that it is accustom to training at those levels. If you never did it before, the first time it'll shock your body and not be fully productive. Don't know Canelo's training habits though before hand. If he has trained in high altitude before, then his body will be ok.

Case in point, how sluggish and slow Cotto looked after training for the first time up there. He gassed out even earlier than he usually does

Don't matter if he's training on the moon or at the bottom of the ocean. He's getting his ass kicked.

Humid? What the hell are you talking about?

Training in altitude does help to increase erythrocytes, however it's also important to note that once the athlete goes back to sea level his red blood cells are going to start decreasing again, so it's important to be in high altitude as much as possible and then go back to sea level a week or two before the event he was training for, in this case a boxing match.

Manny was in prime destruction mode and Oscar fought fn Stevie Forbes as a Pac tuneup lol. No matter what Oscar did the results the same for that version of De La Hoya.

If Canelo loses its because Floyd is better no excuses. If Canelo can win decisively boxing has its new star. I just don't think Canelo has the work rate or gas tank.

Training at high altitude is supposed to help you. It does increase red blood cells, and in doing so, returning to near sea level with it's higher concentration of oxygen, should in theory, increase your endurance.

How well it works it probably open to debate, as it may not take long at all for the body to re-adjust it's levels when returning to sea level.

Actually trained in big bear his whole career and had a pretty damn good career, so training in big bear should hav no effect on canelo

The English have never been good at futbol, and Oscar was shot to pieces. That with the combination of Pacquiao being an ATG = disaster for Delahoya

If training in Big Bear is a mistake, then triple G shouldn't be a factor in boxing.
