"Mistake" and "California" should never be in the same sentence, unless the word "leaving" is between them.

The fight isn't at sea level it's in Las Vegas, training at a higher elevation is going to help.

Isn't citing "from what I've heard" as evidence the only brosciency thing going on here?

Guadalajara elevation is also high at 5,500 so it shouldn't be too much of a difference

Big Bear is over 6,700 ft so it is a big difference.

The English national team was also criticised for training in the high altitude and some commentators blamed their poor performance in the Euros for this.

The theory goes that it simply impedes your ability to train because it's too damn humid so any potential benefit in red blood cell count is offset by a poor training camp.
It really doesn't make a difference if Canelo trains at a high altitude because the fight is not in high altitude...the only way high altitude training would help if the fight was taking place in Big Bear or another high altitude location...

Im not really sure as far as training in high altitude. But I had a fight a couple months ago. The city where I live has an elevation of 70ft and the city where I fought had an elevation of 4,500ft. I didnt think about elevation until after the fight. I really started to feel the change in the last round, I was dead at the end of the fight even though I won, I have never been that tired before. The elevation change is no joke, you have to be in top shape.

Here is a vid of Marcos Maidana's strength and conditioning coach saying he is not a fan of high altitude training.
