How come in this fight he didn't "run like a *****" and he stopped Angulo?

Its like people are trying to turn laras win against him

This is a very articulate and well spoken interview. It really annoys me when all I get is a gibberish translation of a Spanish speaking fighter's words. They are always made to sound ****** by that HBO dumb ass.

I am glad Lara is speaking out about Schaeffer's comments because I thought at the time they were so outrageous and reprehensible that it must be some kind of mistake.

For Schaeffer to downplay Lara like that on the heels of a hard fought victory is disgraceful for someone in his line of work and in my opinion it borders on criminal and should give Lara grounds to terminate their partnership if he chooses.

A promoter should (and I assuming would) have a responsibility to act in a way that is in the best interest of his fighter and partner. Schaeffer's position in boxing, combined with his comments, can potentially harm Lara's ability to get fights and cost him money over both short and long term.

It boggles my mind that he said what he did. Especially given he has a background as a shrewd businessman first and a boxing guy second.
This is coming of the heels of Arum and his Rigo comments. WTF is up with them making these open comments?
If you really didn't want him to win, why did you set him up with Angulo?
They're the biggest Cuban fighters right now (except for Solis) and both promoters are complaining about not being able to sell them.
If you can't have them headline their own cards fine, but at least put them on big undercards instead of crap fights so boxing fans can enjoy them

Angulo had every advantage with the rehydration and ring size. That being said he still got whooped! I say whooped because he quit with a bruised eye! So for you Angulo fans who are mad at Lara, maybe you should be mad at your boy for quiting! Ortiz is known as a quitter and so is Angulo in my eyes! At least Ortiz had a broken jaw! Lara was even winning the rounds where he suffered knockdowns! Rematch = Angulo quittIng again. But on his back!

It makes no sense. Schaeffer is really starting to piss me off. He fed us ****ty ass Andre Berto fights for 5 years, now all of a sudden he has a hard on for action fights at the expense of a guy like Lara who would kick Berto's ass from Havana to Port Au Prince and back in one night.

The comments especially made no sense because I thought it was a very entertaining fight, probably the best Lara has ever had on TV. Yes maybe it was Angulo who forced the action but Lara rose to the occasion and he stood and fought a lot more than Rigo did and gave a great performance.

I also don't see the point of trying to prop up Angulo. Here is a guy who lost a year to jail and had his ass kicked by James Kirkland already.

If he beats Lara then what? Sooner or later someone is going to stomp him badly. With Lara at least there is that potential that he can beat just about anyone and do it for a long time.

Yeah it must be awful to have a promoter that doesn't even back you. All these promoters are the same. I used to think some are better than the others but they all have their own agenda. Schafer is a donkey!

              True **** right here

Lara will finish of Kirkland in DOS ROUNDS. He should have a shot at the WBC and the WBA because he won the interim belt and Vanes *****ed out in having the rematch with Lara. He should be facing the winner of Canelo Mayweather.

I think mares doesn't get enough credit for boxing.. nonito looked for big shots vs slick rigo.. I think mares pressures too much and lands more.. just my opinion..
Rigo does have fans. I am one and there's a lot more on the forum. Also look at the Rigotards, we all support Rigod.

It really annoys me when posters who don't want to actually analyze fighters lump them together because of one common trait that has nothing to do with boxing.

                For instance....

People who talk about the Klitschkos like they are the same fighter. Other than being tall and having the same last name they are about as different stylistically as two large heavyweights can possibly be.

Now people want to lump Rigondeaux and Lara together as boring but technical Cuban fighters.

For me Lara is much more watchable and has a style better suited for pro boxing. Rigondeaux is a great fighter but I thought the Donaire fight was dreadfully boring and Lara-Angulo was a fight I would watch again.

They are not the same fighter and they really don't have as much in common as people are making out.

That's the problem when you have guys that don't know **** about boxing being promoters. They think guys like Angulo are great when in reality they are sub par! That Maricon De La Hoya knows his **** about boxing but he is too busy thinking about bumming Canelo so he's scared that his golden boy might get beaten up.

I see what's wrong with boxing.

Every wannabe want to fight a star to become a star. You'd wonder why stars became stars in the first place. Cotto, for example, was already a star when he fought Pacman. He became a star on his own.

The funny thing is these guys still want a past prime Cotto to make a name for themselves. They can't become stars on their own.

You'd think that fans would flock to Lara's next fights after the Angulo fight no matter who he fights.

Lara should fight Trout or Cotto next and then the Mayweather vs Canelo winner.

Angulo should work on defense & head movement then fight Vanes
