There was no injury, Ric. Everyone thought Angulo suffered a broken orbital bone at the time, but it turned out "Perro" was uninjured.

All I know is that after his 1st KD he came back strong and easily controlled the next handful of rounds. And after KD #2 he pot shot Angulo until he quit. I cant remember another fight where the guy who was down multiple times lumped up his opponents face as bad as he lumped up Angulo's mug. Pretty impressive to me.

Angulo fought with a lot of determination and stamina. He kept coming, weathering tons of shots to the head. Alfredo managed to land two big headshots that floored Landy. Both times, Lara got up and won the rest of the round. Landy pounded "Perro's" face 'til the man thought something was seriously wrong with his eye. (There was never any "thumbing.") You don't see that very often.

i was impressed with his heart, and have deeper respect for him because of it.


he went life and death with alfredo angulo. that is what it is. lara never looked to me to be a potential great or longtime champion, but the angulo fight sealed the deal. he'll be a name at 154, and get in some good fights. he might even win a few of them. he's no threat to alvarez, and certainly not to mayweather.

I pretty much agree with everything but your last sentence, NE. I've never been that high on Lara myself (although the Angulo fight made me a fan). I do think, however, that Landy is a real threat to "Canelo" and would even make a good fight versus an aging Mayweather. (Yeah, I know Floyd looked ageless versus Guerrero, but Father Time has a way of showing up overnight.)

Just saying the dude isnt a dominant fighter.... He was yet to blow away a top guy...

Struggled vs molina, tough fight vs williams, tough fight vs angulo, horrible fight vs matrisyon but he was starting to take over when it was stopped....

I have yet to see him pull off a great performance vs a top guy,, but i do think he beats alot of top guys and could lose to some top guys,, Much like how paul williams was always a coin-toss on whether he would win or lose....

Do you not understand that the guy is probably a .500 fighter at the top level

Like diego corrales, corrales could beat alot of guys but also lose to guys,,, Lara is kinda like that.... for example lara could beat angulo, canelo, but maybe lose to trout n cotto,,, Just using those guys as examples
