well i don't care how he loses..if it's by tko then so be it. but its obvious he's done (i felt he lost to murray) so rather than fight some no hoper then retire he should fight golovkin, take the inevitable beating like a champ and pass on the torch/wbc title/#1 middleweight spot...
. We all know theres no other outcome to this fight. Before his last fight I was picking Martinez (I was giving him the benefit of the doubt) but his last fight was a clear sign. His reflexes are fading, he can't move cause of his knee, hand injury, you name it.

floyd never contradicted himself? saying "manny pacquiao, you're next" at the ortiz LA presser, then saying he never said it. asking for extra drug testing, but then after team pac agrees to it he starts bitching about the purse split like some female. being against catchweights when talking about fighting cotto at 154 and not giving credit to pacquiao for beating cotto at 145? now he's fighting this ginger kid at a 152 lb catchweight when they're BOTH champions in the same goddamn division! martinez moved up to middleweight around 35/36 years of age. floyd's around that same age, isn't he? why doesn't he move up another division to 160 or stay at 154? i mean he's beating guys like ortiz and guerrero like nothing, why not challenge himself more if he's so great. paying 60/70 bucks for a sparring session? you got to be kidding me. dude's the biggest pussy/boring atg this sport has ever seen (and probably will ever see).Sergio Martinez answers when asked about going up to 168 to challenge the top guys an going up in weight, Sergio tells ESPN:
"But going up directly to 168 would be suicidal. I walk around at less than 168 when I'm not even training, usually at about 165. I'm definitely not ready for that division."
Sergio Martinez on fighting Manny Pacquiao at 150 pounds , Sergio tells Ring magazine:
"It's an incredible effort for my body. I walk around at 178 with a maximum of 3.2 percent body fat. I have very little body fat and I'm very muscular. To go down to that weight can be fatal to my health."
I was never sold on Martinez. People bigged him up because he wasn't Floyd or Pacman and they needed a guy to praise because they didn't want to praise either guy. His footwork is so ugly, his hands down style is clumsy and atrocious not in a nice way either. Plus he keeps saying Golovkin isn't worthy or his people have been saying that, his promoter has been doing his fair share of cherry picking, just like when they didn't want to fight Pirog after he KO Danny Jacobs.
Also them not willing to go up to 168, saying he is too small, well too small yet you walk around at 180 and than lie about it saying you are too small for 168 which is it? if Floyd, JMM, and Pacman can fight at 147 and basically only put 2 pounds above the limit on fight night and dominate against guys who weigh more why can't Sergio? If he is great he should challenge Ward at 168 he will be fresh and not have to cut much weight which is taxing on his aging body at this point.
Sergio seems to be getting a pass, 168 is not too big for him at this stage in his career if there is nothing left for you if you don't want to fight Golovkin go up to fight Ward or Froch or one of those top guys. Why go back down to 154 when you already have a drained out face with no meat on it?
how about donaire? talk about trying to polish a turd. he keeps his "elite" status by beating up scrubs like vazquez, arce, and fights unknowns like narvaez and mathebula. at least macklin, murray, and barker were legit and natural MWs. this guy is like a bantamweight chavez jr, having a clear size advantage on his last 6 or so opponents on fight night. talking about martinez not facing pirog after KO'ing a prospect in jacobs, how about donaire making all those excuses for not fighting rigondeaux before it actually happened? saying no one knows him, he needs more win professionally (even though he's arguably one of the greatest amateurs ever), and what not. plus, he worked with victor conte of all people for a while. you want to talk about roids and not believe donaire could have been on something during his time working with conte? give me a break.
i don't even want to talk about ward, he's practically an american version of calzaghe. what hasn't been said about pacquiao that floyd fanboys haven't already said?
it's easy to hate on any fighter. truth is, every fighter contradicts themselves at one point or another.
at the end of the day, all these guys are prizefighters, they fight for money. where there is easy or big money, that's where they'll go. martinez wanted a 150 lb catchweight against manny pacquiao or floyd mayweather because it seemed like it would benefit them to the point where they would actually consider a possible fight with him. be real, if that fight really happened, who would have the advantage going into it? 150 lb catchweight and all.
yeah, martinez might not have the prettiest style, but then again, this guy never intended on having a boxing career until he was 21. i mean at least he stops his guys. did he not stop dzinziruk, barker, and macklin when they presented him with a difficult fight? dzinziruk had a good round right before getting stopped. when donaire or pacquiao were presented with a difficult style/fight (narvaez, vazquez, mathebula, marquez, clottey, and mosley), what were their excuses for not being able to adapt/make adjustments and get the stoppage?
i love how everyone who discredits the guy, shitting on him saying he's no good wants him to move up in weight and fight the best there? why? wouldn't that fight suck? or you just want to see guys you don't like lose? haha. pathetic.Comment

AT calling me a donaire fan, hell no, I said it many times I am unbiased. I call it how I see it.
I have criticized, Pacman, Floyd, Nonito, Rigo, Sergio.
I point out things that people overlook.
Sergio is a boxer that people who wanted to be different latched onto because they didnt like pac or floyd.
Sergio is overrated, sloppy footwork, flawed like mad, people who don't know about boxing will actually say he has awesome footwork and boxing skills and is slick, he is not slick he is awkward,
he trips over his own feet, and has his hands down all the time, and throws and always blowing his nose.
and maybe I should have been more clear he LIED about his weight issue.
he has yet to act like Floyd and tell a reporter that he never said that though.Comment

He was 176 at the 30 day weigh in for the williams rematch, so he does walk around up there. He gains a little fat in the off seasonComment

Wanna bump one of your threads criticizing Donaire? I think I must've missed them. At least one for at least contradicting himself over and over.Originally posted by hectariQuote:

You can say what you want about Martinez but he proved he belonged on the P4P list. He can fight on the outside, he got power, he got speed. He also proved he can adapt when his gameplan isn't working out AND he can fight on the inside as you saw. How many guys have all those dimensions?

What?? How is that when they just covered up most of the fight, didnt try to press and just threw jabs? That's like saying that Narvaez exposed Donaire! Just dumb...
It's clear that Sergio is deteriorating and injured. I like Murray but had Macklin been back in with Sergio again that fight I would have fancied him to stop Sergio.
I hope that he recovers, cashes in against Mayweather then retires! He deserves it. It's a pity that he didnt get recognition when he was say 28.Comment
