Sergio Martinez on fighting Manny Pacquiao at 150 pounds , Sergio tells Ring magazine:

"It's an incredible effort for my body. I walk around at 178 with a maximum of 3.2 percent body fat. I have very little body fat and I'm very muscular. To go down to that weight can be fatal to my health."

I was never sold on Martinez. People bigged him up because he wasn't Floyd or Pacman and they needed a guy to praise because they didn't want to praise either guy. His footwork is so ugly, his hands down style is clumsy and atrocious not in a nice way either. Plus he keeps saying Golovkin isn't worthy or his people have been saying that, his promoter has been doing his fair share of cherry picking, just like when they didn't want to fight Pirog after he KO Danny Jacobs.

Also them not willing to go up to 168, saying he is too small, well too small yet you walk around at 180 and than lie about it saying you are too small for 168 which is it? if Floyd, JMM, and Pacman can fight at 147 and basically only put 2 pounds above the limit on fight night and dominate against guys who weigh more why can't Sergio? If he is great he should challenge Ward at 168 he will be fresh and not have to cut much weight which is taxing on his aging body at this point.

Sergio seems to be getting a pass, 168 is not too big for him at this stage in his career if there is nothing left for you if you don't want to fight Golovkin go up to fight Ward or Froch or one of those top guys. Why go back down to 154 when you already have a drained out face with no meat on it?
Let me know when you find another guy with literally no amateur career who turned pro at 21 or 22, and pretty much only lost one fight out of almost 60 fights. The Williams loss was a loss on paper but I personally thought he edged it and the Cintron Draw was a KO....never seen anything like that fight before but that was before Martinez had any fans so HBO ripped him off.

He has fought in 3 different divisions and been a champ in two of them. The combined records of his last 7 opponents is by far the best in the sport bar none. The guy is a small MW, Ward even said he was too small to fight.

lol 3.2% body fat..pro bodybuilders rarely if ever get that low with months of dieting and all the drugs under the sun...maybe he used to be around 178lbs and isn't any more, but it sounds dubious, he should be at 154

If he should move up, same could be said about everyone. Why single him out?
Why wont GGG or Chavez move up to fight Ward or Froch?
Why wont Canelo move up to fight GGG or Quillon?
See I can do that with everyone.

What?? How is that when they just covered up most of the fight, didnt try to press and just threw jabs? That's like saying that Narvaez exposed Donaire! Just dumb...

It's clear that Sergio is deteriorating and injured. I like Murray but had Macklin been back in with Sergio again that fight I would have fancied him to stop Sergio.

I hope that he recovers, cashes in against Mayweather then retires! He deserves it. It's a pity that he didnt get recognition when he was say 28.

You can say what you want about Martinez but he proved he belonged on the P4P list. He can fight on the outside, he got power, he got speed. He also proved he can adapt when his gameplan isn't working out AND he can fight on the inside as you saw. How many guys have all those dimensions?

AT calling me a donaire fan, hell no, I said it many times I am unbiased. I call it how I see it.

I have criticized, Pacman, Floyd, Nonito, Rigo, Sergio.

I point out things that people overlook.

Sergio is a boxer that people who wanted to be different latched onto because they didnt like pac or floyd.

Sergio is overrated, sloppy footwork, flawed like mad, people who don't know about boxing will actually say he has awesome footwork and boxing skills and is slick, he is not slick he is awkward,

he trips over his own feet, and has his hands down all the time, and throws and always blowing his nose.

and maybe I should have been more clear he LIED about his weight issue.

he has yet to act like Floyd and tell a reporter that he never said that though.
Wanna bump one of your threads criticizing Donaire? I think I must've missed them. At least one for at least contradicting himself over and over.

He was 176 at the 30 day weigh in for the williams rematch, so he does walk around up there. He gains a little fat in the off season
