To everyone saying $12 million aint nothing to a big company, go ask any big company for $12 million and see what happens
They wouldve been better off if they never even had the event, thats how bad this pos wasComment

How much profit will they make with Canelo? Will it do much more than 12 Mil plus profit? Who knows but a lost is a lost. No business wants that.
In this case, if the lost is true, then not enough people paid for the PPV. It represents less viewers/buyers than projected.
You are a ****** BTW. Is a 12 Mil lost a good thing?
im pretty sure they projected this fight in the range it sold lol.who expects a guerrero fight to do big numbers
i never said it was a good thing.learn to read.i said 12 million is not alot of money to a major corporation.cbs/showtime is a major corporation in case you dont get those channels in your villageComment

floyd is losing control now....
he no longer has the final say on who he fights....
this may have a bad carry-over during the fights.....
it is very difficult to wander-off astray from what one is ised to doing....
getting what he wants and when he wants it too....
that is very difficult...Comment

of course no business wants a loss.but 12 million is not making or breaking anything, and their is 0 proof they lost money

but i don't think show's top hocho had not factored in losing some $ initially...
like birth pains.......
they have factored possible losses in the equation.....and measures to offset these losses.....
they are starting to employ these measures now...
pick pbf's foe and work double time on the promoComment

No one had to subscribe to Showtime to watch Floyd/Gurrero or to watch Canelo/Floyd. I doubt too many people were signing up for Showtime just because Floyd did...Comment

2) They absolutely DID NOT project the fight to do under 1.2 million buys. Especially not more than 300k less than that number. Richard Schaeffer himself said a week before the fight it was trending better than the Ortiz fight and that they were hopeful it would approach the 1.5 million Cotto number
3) 12 million is a lot of money to Showtime. Period. Their annual budget is only 30 million dollars. Morons would be smart to stop quoting CBS overall budget as they don't give a rat's ass about boxing and will not lose money on a sport that isn't important and doesn't bring in any new subscribers.
Mayweather loses them 12 million now they only have 18 million instead of 30 million to buy all their fights for the rest of the year.
4) Most importantly - since nobody here seems to know this and Floyd doesn't want you to - Floyd's 6 fight contract is not guaranteed and Showtime can end their partnership at any time. They have the option to renew it after each fight.
It is a very safe bet that Showtime told Floyd that he would fight Canelo or they would not pick up the fight. They were looking at losing another 10-15 million on an alternative fight which would leave them with next to nothing in the budget.Comment

you ended the thread for yourself you dumb prick, lol, nobody gave a flying **** about your end of thread comment, lol, you will be pissed off at me cause nobody gives a **** about you trying to end the thread, lol, you mightve ended it for yourself lil homie
Are people still talking about this??? Floyd made more than $32 mil, showtime says they didn't take a loss, we have Floyd vs. Canelo being talked about as one of the biggest sports events this year, golden boy keeps making excellent shows and they have even more lined up to end the year. What's the issue? This deal is working out for everyone except the internet numbers crunchers and random industry insiders who probably come from the other side (HBO). I'm honestly confused as to why ppl want this to be the truth? Because u hate Floyd? Showtime has gotten more high profile than anytime previous in history. They are doing just fine. Stop wasting your time speculating on crap u clearly don't understand. If showtime takes a loss, it'll be all over they quarterly earning reports. As of right now, boxing fans are getting what they want so who the hell cares? Not boxing fans that's for sureLast edited by Tha_Greatest; 06-11-2013, 03:29 AM.Comment
